"It is the year 2005..." actually, it's now 2009 and we are well within the time frame of G1 Season 3+. So, let's imagine that G1 S3-4 characters have to scan earth forms at some point. Which vehicles would they choose? Here are my choices: Rodimus Prime - Uh... Damon Avanti is the most futuristic-looking RV I can find... Springer - RAH-66 Comanche/M2 Bradley (gods know how that transformation would work out, but stranger things have happened) Arcee - Chevrolet Corvette C6 Convertible Kup - Toyota Hilux/Tacoma (1990s model) Blurr - Koenigsegg CCR Wheelie - Tesla Roadster Galvatron - No guessing there, he is a Merkava Cyclonus - F22 Raptor Scourge - V22 Osprey
Rodimus does not need to be an RV. Just the idea of an RV as a TF toy when I was a kid was pretty silly to me, and even moreso to me now. And it was so impractical for him considering his capacity as a leader. Rodimus needs to be something cool, heavy-duty, and military-esque like TFA Ultra Magnus and Universe Onslaught.
I'd say Cyclonus would be more of a B-1 Bomber. He always struck me as being bigger then the original seekers.
Thank you. I dont understand why so many believe that those modes were cybertroin modes. They were designed in 1985 and it was believed that 20 years in the future earth cars and trucks might look like that.
Although Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge were designed and built by Unicron, who I doubt went checking Earth vehicle designs for alt modes. If anything their alt modes are Unicronian modes. Rodimus Prime was also 'built' off of Earth, although I suppose maybe the Matrix (or Optimus' spark/spirit/whatever he was when his voice was heard) could've picked an future Earth truck alt for him instead of coming up with one themselves. Lucky there was one that looked like a truck version of his car mode to pick from though. Wheelie as far as I know had never been anywhere near Earth either (but then, who knows?), so his alt mode could be Cybertronian, or from some other planet he's been to. Or maybe Earth vehicle 'fashions' are advertised throughout the universe so it could be a futuristic Earth alt mode seen advertised somewhere. Junkions could definitely have Earthen motorbike alt modes though since they get Earth television transmissions. But of course this is the correct 'to sell toys' type of answer really:
I was referring to the Autobots....hence the rest of my post that pointed out "cars and trucks". If your going to go that route....theres no reason to assume its a Cybertronian mode either. As far as we know Wheelie had never been anywhere near Cybertron either.
I'm afraid I didn't make my question clear enough. Regardless of the designers' original intent for the alt modes, we know that cars and trucks don't look like that now and likely won't ever look like that. In other words, I want to see the characters reimagined with what we currently have for technology.
as much as i love both your idea and the design of the RAH-66, i doubt it would be a good earth mode to blend in with us here. "um, general, didn't we cancel that thing? so who's flying it???" as for the future of 2005 thing, KUP was indeed a future car back in the day. When i saw a Popular Mechanics mag back in Junior high with a Ford(?) concept pickup, it was exactly the same as KUP, except purple. so that was brilliant. with Blurr, my idea: SSC Aero as for Rodimus, i had to see what the avanti was, and man, that can't be a heroic anything, lol. sorry. but that is like Ben's Plumber granddad's rv. The rest of your ideas look great. for me, i kinda wish Arcee was maybe a Mini Cooper, or the re-launched Ford Thunderbird that came out a few years back.
Arcee as a Corvette? I don't see it. Something like a Saturn Sky would better suit her. And yeah, Springer would not be a Comanche (as much as I may not like the idea of that). He'd be an Apache or more likely a Black Hawk. A Striker would also work better with the transformation and such. I'd also prefer that Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge weren't modeled so directly after human vehicles/weapons. They got those forms in the middle of space, not on Earth as with the Ark. Edit: I looked it up, the Damon Avanti looks like a toaster.
I think Arcee would look good as a YES! Roadster 3.2 2008 Chicago Auto Show Preview: YES! Roadster 3.2 Turbo I've always thought of Kup as a El Dorada type of vehicle - half truck/half car. I think a good match would be the Toyota A-Bat concept Toyota A-BAT exterior image - Photos: Toyota's A-BAT mobile - CNET News
