Ever since seeing Spurt Reynolds' Movie Roadbuster a few months back, I had thought about creating my own that also utilized a more contemporary vehicle as its alt mode. I decided to use Marvel/TF Crossovers Captain America as the base for this custom since it looks like the appropriate vehicle for an earth version of Roadbuster. He'll be using Universe Treadbolt's helmet as a head, which will feature an LED and will be armed to the teeth while boasting his green, orange, and brown color scheme.

I've uploaded some pics of the figure with its proposed new head for starters.

Hope you enjoy these sample pics.

(And Revoltech Jazz is almost finished).

Nice. I was going to do one of these too. I'm not sure about the head choice... it seems a bit large, which will make it seem like Roadbuster has almost childlike proportions.

Otherwise, it might be tough to find something just right. The head I'm using is pretty small, and it came from a dollar store bot.

In any case, I'm sure you'll finish yours first. :)

Not meaning to hijack... just some pics I took last month to prep for this kitbash. Figured I'd share them here rather than start a new thread for them. Hope they provide some ideas for all. I was surprised how well this figure matches the Roadbuster concept.

I am really liking both of your ideas Satomiblood and SMOG. One question though, what is the head that you used SMOG it looks really sharp/more G1ish (well, if you add those ear things/blobs on the sides of his head)?

I'd like to see someone using this mold as a base to sand down all of the Capt. A chain metal armor that is on the Hummer body. Otherwise, this mold looks like it will work great!

It's the head from some dollar store KO bot. I believe it was from a helicopter that is supposed to combine with a jet to make a crude robot. It's cheap junk, and I had to remove a thick layer of chrome from the head, but it has the right "generic mecha" style for Roadbuster. The problem is I'm not sure if it would be easy to find one still...I haven't seen one of these in a store in ages.

The Universe Jetifire/Treadshot head is not a bad match, but I'm concerned that it might be too large for the mold. Of course, I also just like robots with small heads anyway. :)

Actually, on the actual toy, the "chain mail" doesn't look so bad. It's actually just a net-like pattern that looks almost like it could be some kind of camouflage texture or something. I would almost be tempted to leave it, if it takes the paint well.

I plan on sanding it down and/or filling it in with putty.

I thought it was supposed to be diamond plate. If I get around to making one I would leave it.

I plan on giving him alt hands to offset the size of the head.

Yeah, that works too. I think they made the texture look less like actual scales on purpose so the alt mode would be less compromised.

That will help. He'll still have a sort of cartoonish quality, but I think with matching hands, he'll be more consistent overall.

Have you actually tested the head to make sure it fits in the chest compartment? I guess Marvel Crossovers have large heads anyway, so there might be enough room.

It's a little bigger than Cap's head. The side antennas definitely contribute to this. I'd imagine some cutting would be involved. The antennas would have to fold in as well (I'm thankful that they're moveable).

Are you planning on doing more of the Wreckers? or just Roadbuster?
