If you didn’t know and you probably didn’t last night was Earth Hour. http://www13.earthhourus.org/ All these cities around the world where going to turn out the light for one hour 8pm-9pm. San Francisco was going to be one of them so we thought it would be cool to go up to the Marin headlands and watch the light go off and come back on.

So here we are at about 7:20pm Big cargo ship going under the Golden Gate Bridge, very cool.

    7:40pm or so, getting darker.

7:55pm low light setting on my camera having a hard time now. But every one is getting excited.

And now 8:10pm Ten minutes after the dramatic moment lights where supposed to go out.

Wow, they turned off the tower lights on the GGB. Weeee. The equivalent of taking maybe 2 cars of the road, to bad like 30 cars drove up to the headlands to watch.

Just before we left in disappointment a car pulled up and the guy hopped out, came over to where I was standing and asked “Is it over? Did we miss it? Was it cool when the lights came back on?” I told him “This is it, it’s still happening.”

Now I didn’t expect the whole city to go black, I expected street lights to stay on. At the least I thought the skyscrapers in the financial district would have gone off. All and all a let down, at lest I got to take some cool pics.

Hold on. You really thought SF was just going to turn off a whole bunch of lights? That's pretty funny. Can't force businesses to turn theirs off, the city certainly isn't going to shut off street lights, on a bridge of all places.

I think someone got overhyped by the montage of people turning lights off in the video on that website.

I knew about it, but as is my cynical ways, I knew it was going to be a losing idea.

To offset the self-righteousness of environmentalists I went out of my way to make sure every light in my house was on all night, even the porch and car lights were on. I even littered a little. Can't let the atmosphere get filled with too much smug. <=P

That sounds pretty self-righteousness. I guess you're a fight fire with fire sort of guy.

Uh, no. You don't fight fire with fire. That's stupid. You fight it with fire FIGHTERS. Just like on the tv box. Unless there's an earthquake... cuz that's just a double negative. Which doesn't exist.

But yeah. Note: I never did any of that. Just like when I said I was the first man the crank one out on the moon. Never happened. <=[

I turned the lights off in my house. Because I love the Earth. I'd marry it if I could. Unf.

Heard about it, and thought about how well ideas and people mix together.

Also figured buisness goers would've used it to get ahead in the competition. Like candle shops etc...

I waited all night long in my batsuit for Sears to go out so i can get some loot

Cool pics bb, looks like a good place to take ex girlfriends hehe
