What would be a good alt mode for G1 Shockwave on Earth?
sawed off shotgun
A dirty rug. Since he lets everyone walk all over him in the cartoon anyway, and he always gets beat.
I'd say a tank of some sort, or a missle platform.
Realistically, a huge cannon or something. Mass-shifting wise, a gun of sorts
A 30 foot long purple flying raygun. Shockwave doesn't need an Earth mode.
Something with a big gun on it.
I'd have to agree with Draven.
Here here! LOL! He'd be the one character for the movie who I wouldn't object to an alien alt mode.
Y'know, every time I think of it, I come up with one of two things... one of those kooky kaiju movie ray-gun-on-a-tank things that seem ubiquitous to the Japanese sci-fi genre... or a killer satellite.
Which I guess is EXACTLY Superlink Shockwave.
Seriously, I really love the killer satellite idea. It seems like the perfect position for Shockwave... above the Earth, seeing all, collating data, directing troops, formulating strategies based on his privileged vantage point... and striking with pinpoint, death-from-above accuracy as he pleases.
Also, it keeps him out of Megatron's way.
An A-10 Thunderbolt II, with the 30mm GAU-8/A Avenger gatling gun as his hand/cannon.
An AC-130H. The 105 mm M102 howitzer would become his hand/cannon. If you doubt the firepower of this cannon, check out this pic: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f1/AC-130_firing_night.gif - tell me that isn't Shockwave-worthy.
(Ironically, these were both the planes that wounded Scorponok in the first movie.)
A graffiti artist.
Or a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eater. But those sure look strange to me.
It's not the power of the guns that seems unfit for Shockwave... it's the nature of the slug-thrower...
Shockwave really feels like he should be a sci-fi weapon... some form of energy blaster, and according to his tech specs, something that could emit different forms of radiation. We're talking about a guy who has his own nuclear reactor housed in his torso.
Of course I realise that a disguise is a disguise, and a weapon that looks like a slug-thrower could still functionally be a ray gun... but it still doesn't feel quite right, y'know?
But he's got a horrible shot. He will need to hide after he misses.
Not in the comics.
Shockwave (at least the marvel Comics version) is too badass for an earth form...in his mind it wouldn't be logical for a superior being to downgrade himself simply to fit in.
