    I showed this to my fiancee (we're both science majors) and we both felt like we were missing something. the video shows the earth with the moon rotating around it. what's so special about that? granted, we didn't read the accompanying article.

    oh, wait, that video wasn't just some cg thing? even so, I mean, can't they just shoot up a satellite and press record for a day to get the same footage? doesn't seem like it'd be that awe-inspiring.

    No, you have to be out beyond the orbit of the moon to get a vantage point like that. The spacecraft that took that video was 31 million miles away.
