I think this will only up the prices of E-hobby stuff in the states. This doesn't really affect me since I don't collect E-hobby stuff, but it sucks for those who do.

I remember reading this when it was first announced. This is bad news for non Japanese buyers of their products, because the prices will be much higher now. I would hope e-Hobby would reconsider, but I doubt that will happen.

Why limit the consumer base? Bad decision.

Bummer. These were expensive enough already. Sigh.

I wonder how this will affect middlemen like BBTS and TFSource? Surely they have local buyers in Japan, right, and will still be able to get these items? Though no doubt at a much higher price.

This makes me reconsider exactly how much a black Ironhide is really worth.

Only e-hobby toy I ever picked up was the Megaplex version of Megatron. Don't think I even ordered it directly from them anyway.

When did they begin taking orders from overseas? I was under the impression one was forced to have a Japanese address to order from them.

But this has been in force since September, and since the Black Ironhide turned up at BBTS only last month, we can deduce it doesn't affect those middlemen you mentioned. Then this must mean it just affects direct orders from the website from non-Japanese customers.

    IDEA!
Ehobby toys couldn't be "officially" released in the states because it was a takara exclusive and hasbro releasing it would lessen the value/rarity of the items, and anyone (dealers, etc...) that wanted them would have to order from eHobby. Now eHobby has basically shut their doors on international trade... and embargo if you will. Considering that there's no way for us in the states to get them now (of course there's a way, but work with me for conversation sake), shouldn't hasbro be free to be able to release the exclusives in the states?

    Summarized version:
    eHobby: "NO SOUP FOR YOU"
Hasbro: "FINE, WE'LL MAKE OUR OWN SOUP"
    Fans: "o_O "

Yeah, but it's not like there's a significant market -- reissues died a death, with SW the only recent attempt.

I'm pretty sure they stopped accepting international orders over half a year ago...

Actually it does... Hong Kong is considered overseas from Japan.

Doesn't bother me at all, I don't collect these, nor do I have any intention to. I need more bang for my buck.

Huh. Maybe we need to have "ehobby usa" where Hasbro can have an outlet to put out costly exclusives for our market... Not sure if it'd work, since it would be easier to have the club just have a contract to release them.

I wish hasbro would embrace collectors and release more excusives thru their own store. The club and store exclusives are great, but they need their own!

The only e-hobby repaint I'd want is the cartoon-colored Astrotrain.
