I recently received e-Hobby Detritus (Desert Hound) and I gotta say that he's all kinds of awesome.

He's obviously one of the less expensive e-Hobby exclusives around, and not many collectors seem to like him. Why is that?

I love the name they gave him. According to Wikipedia, Detritus is "organic waste material from decomposing dead plants or animals"... Pretty cool name considering this character is a Junkion. I can imagine him well in a Junkion setting with his colorscheme, although it's a bit too peach-colored.

So what are your thoughts on this figure?

It is odd considering it's the only repaint of Hound ever done.

Not only detritus, but Hound too. Hound was the #1 hardest original autobot car to get with all those damn accessories. A complete one was often more than $80, and a boxed one $200+. The reissue costs $15. WTF?

I think many of the G1 repaint prices are odd. Sure, Road Rage is neat. But how can you not like Road Hauler, the seventh constructicon?

And what about Overcharge? That deco is SO much better than the "original" version, it's unreal. How come Black(sic) Starscream is worth three times as much? Like Detritus, he has awesome bonus stickers.

He's probably my least favorite of all the G1 eHobby items... a great idea that wasn't executed well. Making him a Junkion is brilliant. Painting him a peachy-pink that isn't reminiscent of a Junkion is a big bunch of malarkay.

Granted, there weren't a lot of obvious Hound repaint options, but I'd bet that had the repaint been yellow (Swindle), it would have attracted a bit more attention and ended up being more rare. Detritus is redeemed for me by the fact that I dig the mold. He's the ultimate G1 brick.

Also, I concur that the name is very well-selected.

EDIT: You know what would have looked great on this guy? A desert camo color scheme - tone down the pink and go with a light brown camo.

If I were to start going after E-Hobby releases, Detritus would definitely be #2 on my list, after the minibot GoBot redecos. :D

Deitritus ain't got no love cause he's painted PINK.. end of story. Ok, maybe Salmon. He's hardly desert camo. More like Barbie Camo.

It is desert camo. At the motor heritage centre here in the UK they had an old SAS Land Rover painted for use in desert conflicts. They were nicknamed 'Pink Panthers' I believe, because they were actually pink. I assume that it blends in quite nicely in an actual desert, due to the lighting (or something). Similar to how in the old UK TV show 'The White Room', the room in question was actually a shade of grey. On TV it appeared white.

Anyway, I really like Detritus. The weathering effect is rather nice, and he has a rather nifty beard. How can you go wrong with that?

He usually sells for $10-15 from Japanese sellers online.... I don't have any links though, because I haven't been actively paying attention to it since I already own it. But he usually sells for just over 1000yen on yahoo.

And the camo is good. Painting it exactly like Wreck-Gar would be boooring, and it is indeed desert camo.

Hound's a great addition to anybody's collection. And since he's selling a bit cheap, maybe now's the chance for me to get him!

Detritus never interested me much, probably since the repaint idea of the Hound mold as a Junkion doesn't make much sense to me.

I never cared for Hound to begin with and Detritus's paint job sure doesn't make the mold look any better.

Correct. The salmon pink actually was an authentic colour scheme.

I have him, but he just doesn't do much for me. The colors are just bland. Same with the original, and even the alt. I love alt Swindle, but alt hound is pretty uninteresting now.

I guess no one liked him becasue of the color and/or the unpopularity of his character.

I love him though and was pleased to get an Ehobby for so cheap.
He fits right in there with the rest, package and all
