Okay, either tomorrow or saturday I am set to dye a custom transformer with Rit dye. I'm buying the dye tonight after work and all I have to work with is a pot and stove. None of that acitone stuff. Can anyone give me any advice to make sure that this turns out great, or any pointers I could use? I'd really appreciate it and if this turns out great I should be able to get the pictures here monday. Its going to be great! I just wanna make sure I don't frag it up. Thanks.

Watch the pot. I tried to dye an astrotrain grey and I overboiled him trying to get him a nice dark tone. The plastic warped and now he can't transform very well.

In Jamaica we have a saying, "every spoil is a style". Meaning every mistake can be seen as a stylistic change. I actually like the look of your Astrotrain! If I were you I'd ruff up the edges that don't look right and you have some awesome battle damage!

no I agree. The "warped astrotrain" has a style of its own. I would'nt rough it up any more though, poor toy has been through enough.

I dyed it last night when I got off work. I dyed half of it purple using the powder. It came out a sort of lavender/purple mix. I used the scarlett liquid on the other parts. They look like they are made of blood! They look great. But a couple of pieces warped and after some cussing and some super glue I got it together. After I make some custom stickers it should look great and it still transforms. And I found out, the liquid works better.

Astrotrain reminds me of scourge in 'the burden hardest to bear'.

Metroplex. It turned out a dark lavender/purple and blood red. But the chest section under the flip away cannon and one fold out shin warped a little. With some muscle, vice grips and super glue, I managed to fix it. It looks pretty good. I may give it to my son and try again though.
