i don't collect mp. i just do legends scale (as in I have no parameters to refer to for MP scale), mostly IF. you were the one saying the scale justified the lack of articulation; most IF and Dx9 figures don't, these do.

moreover, having upscaled their figures since galvatron they have themselves to compare to. DX9 Ironhide and Blur have much more articulation than these, and are even smaller.

    Or one and half.
And they built the cost of Ghost Starscream into their sets. So it's a little more competitive.

    Both have pros and cons.

I like the articulation on the IF guys better, I do love DX9'S jet modes better. They are just cleaner.

I think DX9 made IF step up their game. They are throwing in parts for a build-a-Sunstorm now with TC & Skywarp.

Why didn't they paint/cast the air intakes on SW/TC in silver, cos that milky colour just looks wrong?
Painted up silver just gives them that bit more pop.

What did you use? I'd like to do this myself.

Sure, here's a real quick one as I'm 'working' supposedly ;)
Just hand painted with tamiya x-11 chrome silver acrylic, its only a single coat so far and i'll be adding the 2nd later on just to round out the finish on it.
I've not painted the hinge section on top of alt mode as it feels like it rubs so the paint wouldn't survive.

Thanks! A definite improvement. And a good point about the hinge; I hadn't thought about that.

3-1/2 weeks later, still don't have my replacement Skywarp from TCP. I thought they were supposed to have great customer service. The way people on this board gush about them, I expected waaaaay better than what I've seen so far. They're ridiculously slow to answer emails/tickets (if at all), and they clearly didn't follow through on sending out that replacement the next day like they said. I'm beginning to regret switching my POs to them.

If I wanted to be completely ignored when I have a problem, I'd just buy straight from china. WTF!

It's really best to use their website's help ticket system... I think emails get lost easily when you only have one address. I've been without a ditka foot since day one, so I feel your pain...

That's what I did, the website ticket system. It took them five days to answer the initial ticket, and weeks later, when I asked for an update or tracking number (because nothing had arrived), it's been another five days with no response. I'm more than a little perplexed given their glowing reputation.

Update: they finally got back to me (yeah!). apparently the replacement fell through the cracks and never got sent, but it's going out today. fingers crossed.

Incorrect, but I do agree that you get what you pay for. DX9's are cheaper because they are cheaper. IF's cost more because there's more there.

Aesthetics aside the price reflects the complexity of the piece. At that point, it's whether you like G1 or not.

I'd say it also reflects the fact that IF comes with coronation gear and part of Starscream's ghost, which, of course, is great for those that want that stuff. For me--someone who doesn't--I'm glad not to have to pay for it. ;)

It's true, it allcomes down to part count. Whether it's wrist / bicep / waist or thigh swivels, every extra piece costs more.

I am very drawn to the Ghost one with cape, he looks awesome. He is now in my list.

I, for one, absolutely refuse to be baited into a IF/DX9 war. We have enough people with MP Upscalers invading these pages.

I love both my DX9 and Iron Factory Starscreams. They're both great. :)

Amen to that. I love that we got two different but excellent takes on the Seekers, and with them done in that way I don't need these Characters done as Legends ever again. It's great (and rare) in this Hobby when you can actually look at a part of your collection and call it completed.

    Viva DX9 AND Iron Factory.

I've never been one for the "ghost" Starscream. I don't get it. Is it a generational thing? I was older during G1 but loved a lot of other stuff but the "ghost" bit never clicked with me. Glad for those who want it though. Now make the rainmakers or welcoming committee, I'm in. Any word on those possible repaints? Easy money for DX9 (and IF I suppose).
