Thanks to Cheem, we have a teaser image of DX9’s own take on the T-Beast dōjinshi Optimus Primal, who GT are also producing a figure of.

This will presumably be part of the Kaleidoscope line, as a follow up to their Ancestrod.

 

Interesting. Was wondering when they were going to do this. Guessing it's a while off yet though and that they're just pulling a Fans Toys to torpedo interest in the GT one. Either way, hope this one is closer to the original art.

 

Another primal...would love to see different beast wars characters. Some transmetals would be nice!

Is it me, or did Primal suddenly become the character that everyone has to do now?

Might just be you? Aside from the official, GT decided to do not just Primal but a whole series based on the T-Beasts art books. They already indicated that they were going to do Hot Rod and Sideswipe, too. Then DX9 just decided to hurry up and do the exact same thing at GT.

 

I thought DX9 was out for FT's blood instead.

This could've been a good niche line for GT, but DX9 had to go ahead and ruin it.

DX9 hates FT because people keep buying FT's stuff over theirs (or other 3Ps). I mean, look at how many people were ready to declare them the winner of the Devastator wars based on a silhouette. But maybe they're figuring they can do to GT in T-Beasts what FansToys does to then on G1 MPs.

Honestly, I think it's a little shady that they're suddenly doing the exact same characters from a very niche at book not long after GT announced their intentions, but if it gets GT to shift their focus back to awesome IDW MPs like their Prime and Megatron, they I guess it's ok with me.

I believe it’s the forearm of the beast mode, you can see his thumb on the left side.  

 

Given how amazing everything else they have done is, and how fantastic Ancestrod looks, I'm good with waiting for this ahead of GT's effort.

Plus I can't get past the cube-head in beast mode. It's too cubey.

 

I wonder if this will be MP-10 sized like GT's is.

 

Was about to pull the trigger, on the GT version then I saw this. Going to wait and see how the DX9 version turns out...there DX9 Ancestrod is on point.

 

Good grief; did not expect 3rd-party Primal wars. Especially when the official MP is already excellent.

 

Totally different aesthetic to compare the official one.

 

That's for sure! I much prefer an organic beast mode over mechanical/robotic gorillas, but to each their own!

Fixed that. If FT didn't release silhouettes of bots right before another 3P is about to hit the market with said bot there'd probably be less ill will. Then retailers are stuck with cancelled PO, probably demand concessions from 3P's when ordering future products etc etc etc. Meanwhile FT gets another year or so to refine their designs and fix what were problems in the other 3Ps and get declared "the best evah"! Dx9 simply reversed that during the Omega Wars. It's fun to see the shoe on the other foot.

Dx9 is totalling doing to GT what FT does to everyone else. Maybe they are trying to get GT to shift focus back, or maybe Dx9 already had a Primal in production. They've already shown their Ancestrod in the K-line so a Primal isn't too far fetched.
