I just assume the dust forms a protective barrier on my toys that shields them from ultra violet rays, microsonic particle waves and sub-atomic biomacular radiation. Seems to be working?

I think having alot of Plants in the room prevents alot of the dust. That was my experience anyways when i could do that. Now though, currently everything closed up alot of times, only open doors when i have time to see my collection (not so much nowadays). No idea how much dust is collecting there, but i figure less than if open, and i still did manage to have a few plants in the room (not sure how long though)

Hmmm, my dank senses are saying @Nighthawkblack also built a green energon lounge.

But, I should’ve tried harder, or, at least tried my google music library...

I dust my collection at least twice a year. 1-2 weeks later everything looks again like there has been a sandstorm. It takes the shininess and life out of my figures.

Is a microfiber towel enough? I also use a can of dust air normally used for pc stuff to blow out dust.

Don't know about anyone else, but in my house, pet fur is the universal threat, and this is the main culprit. She even laughs about the layer of hair she leaves in her wake on my toys:

Considering I've lived alone for the past 7 years, I guess it means I'm the primary source of the dust.

Compressed air is only useful for very recent surface dust and even then it’s a very, poor and expensive method. It dust has been sitting for weeks it begins to break down into a substance that slowly starts to stick to the surface it’s on. Plus air doesn’t really get into the edges and gaps and panel lines; all that moulded detail very well.

The best method is basically a simple paint brush with an angled tip. Won’t damage the figure but will get into all the nooks and crannies and move the dust that’s sticking.

I purchased one of those but haven't opened it yet. Don't want it to get all dusty.

If your figures ever get loose, a couple of licks should do it!!! Amazing what nature gives you.

Just quickly read though a few pages of this thread (this is one of the most unusual threads that I have read). o_O

Well... It actually doesn't hurt if you live along the San Andreas fault line regardless as I'm in the B.C. Coast. Most of Vancouver's structures are being seismically upgraded as we speak. Washington and Oregon coasts are also in the fault line as well, so they're also prone to earthquakes as well.

I think that the more stuff that you have, the more dust gets quickly accumulated and you see it more often.

I have been fighting that battle for over a decade and a half of collecting. But I recently resorted to Ikea Detolf cases to at least reduce the exposure to dust. Too bad it doesn't eliminate it.
