Note: I'm still using the very first version of the DS.

Like the title says, i dunno if i should get one. My old DS franlkly still works fine, just lacking a stylus, but everything else is a-okay. Which really begs the question whether i should just not get a new one at all.

Given that it's practically the same as the DSi and just bigger, i struggle to see why i shouldn't just get a DSi. Or a lite, even. Anyone wanna convince me one way or the other? I'm leaning towards getting the XL, but the text blurriness problems i read about on the net are worrying. I'm not too worried about camera stuff being blurry, i'd hardly use the camera anyways.

And of course the fact that the 3DS is imminent. Makes it a much tougher call. Although whichever way i go, at least i can finally trade between pokemon games without stealing friend's DS. :D

When exactly is that, anyways? Coz i'm thinking i can get a XL cheaper overseas, but that means waiting for a few months before it gets to me. If the 3DS in coming soon after, there's really no point.

I dunno, but I'm assuming an announcement will be made at E3 and then probably be released in the Fall.

I'm praying to the Nintendo gods that with the advent of this 3D screens that any new Zelda will control like a video game and not like taking notes in college.

Getting the DSi XL is a bad idea, it's not a new system, it's just a DS with some cameras, plus it'll be made redundant with the 3DS. And if the 3DS sucks, then you can get a DSi cheaper than you would right now.

I've yet to find a reason to move on from my DS-lite. I can play Gameboy games, Gameboy Advance games, and DS games. If anything these new machines are offering less for your buck, in my wild opinion.

    :D

I've only got a DSi because my family/friends keep breaking my DS lites and I got a DSi as a gift. :lol  Really, it's not worth the extra $60, just stick with your lite. It's not less for your buck, it's just they aren't offering you enough.

I just went from a original DS to the newer DSi XL, and all I can say about it is I am dam happy. Nothing wasn't wrong with my original DS, minus the scraps and scratches on the outside of its shell doe to someone dragging it on the ground when I let them borrow it. But those larger screens, god dam they are so nice. My eyes used to strain a bit after a while on my DS, but not so on my DSI XL now. Even with the increased screen sizes, it doesn't kill the graphics.

Only downside, no GBA slot if you still use them alot.

They didn't change the resolution on the DSi Xl, right? It's just a bigger screen? If that's the case, it doesn't seem worth it.

If your original DS isn't falling apart, then there's not a lot of reason to upgrade unless you need it for vision sake. With the 3DS most likely dropping this November, or next November there's little reason to upgrade to the XL. 3DS has been confirmed to be backwards compatible with DS and DSi software.

For those that actually have and XL, i've always wondered whether they'd fixed the problem of playing a DS in strong sunlight. I practically can't play my old DS anywhere outside, so it'd be great if they fixed that, with the bigger screens.

its got great battery life, more than any other ds model or my psp 2000 [5.00m33-6]
i can still play gba games, so its good
for pkmn games, you cant import anything from pal park on a dsi/xl, as they dont have gba slots to import things.

    Life is good...

...when you have extra money come in from gifts and other stuff.

That means i can officially go and burn some cash on a DSi XL. Yay!

Although i'll probably get it overseas. Wonder if they have anything other than Bronze and Burgundy? Those two don't exactly look good to me... :(
