Loving it, actually just beat it earlier with the main duo, going for full map completion and finishing all the quests. Games great, with TONS of replayability.

And the EB/Gamestop bonus was practicially worth the purchase alone.

I picked it up tonight with my bonus. Though, I have yet to be able to begin it for various reasons.

I've been playing it close to nonstop over the weekend. I'd probably be done by now if I didnt keep going back to kill stuff over and over to complete the monster entry.

Do you know how long it took me to get both entries for the Final guard? Ugh.
Also, is there ANY way to permanently kill red skeletons and axe armors? That empty slot is driving me nuts.

to kill the Red Skeleton and the Red Axe Armor, use the Undead Killer whip which you'll get from Wind (for killing 3000 baddies)...or with the "sanctuary" spell.

gamefaqs message boards are actually good for something :D

As a friendly reminder (And I wish I had found out about this sooner)
Dont sell ANYTHING if you dont have a duplicate. Several items show up one time only and are needed for quests. Something I have learned to my sorrow.

Anyone got the Thick Glasses, Nun Habit and Long Sword in their shop and want to give me their friend code? :banghead:

Once I finish some of the Quests that require certain items, I'll throw 'em up on my shop.

Actually, we could just pass the Nun clothes or Poison Sword ingredients around, couldn't we? :lol

How does this compare to recent CV games? I heard that there are now some levels that are actually linear, which'd be a nice change of pace for me. Also... what are these "cards"? Are they in the game or something outside the game without which you can't complete certain quests?

once you have an item you can sell the item in your shop. You never lose it in your own inventory.

It's not so much linear that the Castle's design prevents you from going certain places until you've been elsewhere. And elsewhere is usually the only available path at the time. :D

The card (I think) refer to five rare item drops (Heart, Diamond, Club, Spade, Joker) that are required for one of the optional Quests.

C:SOTN was 'linear' in that aspect too, so it's not like this is a new thing. :)  However, this is only REALLY true in the first half. Even then there's only 2-3 areas that are completely inaccessable without special abilities you need to learn in certain areas. The second half of the game gives you a lot more flexibility in how you tackle things. There's also a LOT of backtracking if you want to collect everything like I tend to like doing.

And yes, the cards are a drop item for a quest in the game. You need to collect 5 cards, one of each suite plus a Joker. As drops go, they're not really rare, it's more of a problem of figuring out which monster drops each. Once you figure that out, getting the card is easy enough as it's actually a fairly common drop for those monsters.
