Lum... Luminous Arc? :nervous: Get em both. Just make sure you get one you'll actually play. No reason to own a handheld if it's gonna gather dust.
if you are going to go for homebrew... no I am not endorsing piracy. the DS has more benifits for having a flash cartridge, and the PSP has more benefits for having really good applications and a few other unmentionables (plus if you don't have to buy anything to downgrade the psp route is basically free unless you don't already have a memory stick). I have 2 psps, and 2 dses (don't ask... i also have 2 gbas, 2 gbcs, and 2 gbs... and 2 MP primes, and 2 devestators... the list goes on) above all else go for the system YOU think has the best titles on, but if it were up to me I'd get a PSP since (valuewise) it is worth $150 more then the original DS (idk how much a lite costs since the last video game i bought was last January lol...) plus since I'm a Tekken fan I'm biased on my decisions about console choosing.
Mine cost me about £99.99. I dont know if that makes them $99 in the US or closer to $200. Depends on how they put the conversion.
there are soem pretty badass games out for the psp these days. i myself enjoy portable ops very much, syphon filter & the warriors are also shining examples of how to make a psp game. but i also love my ds. pheonix wright and new mario are winners.
I have both and the DS is good but the PSP is way better due to all the great games you can get. Only flaw with the PSP is that some games really is not that good due to the screen size. Example sports games are great but strat games dont look that good.
Get a PSP and mod it. My DS hasn't been touched in months since I started being able to play whatever on the PSP. It's a way better system for the serious gamer IMO. The DS just feels underpowered and childish to me these days, but I WILL be buying the new Zelda tomorrow. I've been waiting for that game, it's the only thing that's been keeping me from getting rid of it.
Let's not start up that tired argument plz. Define serious however you like. To me, it means someone who likes having options and power on their system.
There's no arguments. I don't get how system preference makes you any less of gamer. To me, you modding your PSP and not paying for all your gamers removes you entirely from being a "serious gamer". But whatever. I prefer the DS, you don't.
And to me, if you prefer the underpowered and limited DS that removes you entirely from being a serious gamer. See how that works? I don't understand why people get so pissy when others say they prefer something else. I didn't say anything about the DS or the PSP trying to look for a fight, I only gave my opinion. I wasn't looking to insult anybody like CG here seems to be intent upon. And who said I don't pay for games? Nice assumption there.
CG, MMM, you are both being ridiculous. Modding a system does not automatically make someone an evil software pirate who never pays for games. A "serious gamer" is someone who seriously loves games. That's not a "skin deep" kind of thing, so a serious gamer wouldn't put much weight into whether a game has the prettiest graphics or the darkest mood. That stuff is entirely superficial.
Exactly. And since I'm such a serious gamer, I like my PSP a lot more because it allows me to play a lot more games from a whole range of systems. The DS can do the same, but not nearly as well. And did CG miss the fact that I own both and therefore have a balanced, learned opinion? It seems so.
That basically puts it in the same boat as the N64 in its generation: Fewer popular games, more powerful graphics, better at homebrew and emulation. That's nice, but it doesn't necessarily make a system better for "serious gamers" even if it makes a system better for you personally. Some "serious gamers" are interested in current games that are actually designed for their current platform. Neither position is necessarily more or less serious.
PSP is fantastic for homebrew stuff. If you like playing old roms, the PSP is the system for you. If you've ever installed linux on anything, the PSP is the system for you. If you have a ps1 game collection, get the PSP and start ripping those isos.
