A better idea would be to tape the bottle to a long pole and hold it over the enclosure, staying out of harm's way and still getting the job done.

But no, now he's an involuntary amputee.

 

He just wanted to lend a hand...

 

Oh this remind me the time about the lady tries to feed a lion, a cookie but than again in this guy's case the hand actually went bye-bye.

They called the animal 'psycho'?  

 

I think the "psycho" bear incident (involving a wild bear and her cub in the forest) was different from the incident where the drunk guy tried to feed a (different) bear in a zoo enclosure.

Either way, I don't think the wild bear was psycho, merely defending its young (mama bears with cubs are the most dangerous). Either that or it was hungry. The guy foraging for mushrooms getting attacked isn't too different from the spate of incidents in Hokkaido, Japan where wild bears have been known to attack and kill/eat people they encounter in the forest.

The drunk guy who got mauled and had his mangled hand amputated after he ignored all safety warnings, yeah, no sympathy from me. Actions have consequences.

 

I feel like a bad person for this but my first question/concern was what happened to the bear, did they end up killing it, subdue it, tranquilize it.

Either way, the animal had it's turf invaded, so it's not psycho, just being protective. Everybody should know by now that a mama bear will attack if you're anywhere in the vicinity of her cub, whether you know it or not. Just her nature and if you're in her forest... then it's her home.

Why feel bad about asking? I was wondering that same thing. Hopefully nothing happened to the bear because it was just doing what bears do. Just because humans are stupid doesn't necessarily mean that the animal should suffer, IMHO.

Yup. Nature, you scary. Could always learn martial arts to fight off bears like that one guy did.

.......you fuckin' wanker. It's a bear! These things win fights with lions by hitting them in the head so hard is crushes their skulls. Christ this is just like those apocryphal stories I hear about guys from the US who handle Alligators going to places like Darwin and trying the same behaviour with Salt-Water Crocodiles - only this has actually happened so I can't just comfort myself that its exaggeration for a story and no one is actually that stupid. Because this dickhead was.

If a drunk guy walked into my house trying to feed me condensed milk of all things, it wouldn't have gone well. I don't see why a Bear seemed like a better idea.

You know I'd almost say something like they should have known he was drunk and not let him into the zoo but it's Russia.

 

Gotta hand it to him, that was really stupid.

 

When asked if he thought the zoo should be held accountable the man said that he would not be pointing any fingers.
