Seperate threads. Well I thought I might get into the whole repainting business. I tried once before with Classics Megatron, which failed. However I got all the paint off and started over (except the left shoulder. However that wasnt as bad as the rest). The wings are somewhere in my room. I cannot find them at the moment. Sorry for the pictures. Edit: Gun Mode
so you have no plans to ever TF him, I take it, with your wings not being located. I guess that's my only nitpick then.
It's more like I don't plan to Transform him as much as I would say Starscream or Prime. However, I do Transform him every once in awhile, since I love the gun mode, but I keep my TF's on a shelf for display. I actually found the wings in my extra accessories bin. So when I go back to my house from my College I can take alt mode pics.
Normally, I might would comment on the paint applications here (if you wanted the paint to be smoother, just use sandpaper ), but I really like the rough aesthetic. It makes him look a bit war damaged without having a bunch of physical things manipulated on him. I would suggest a flat black wash that isn't heavy on paint (a bit more water than normally used + paint ). I think that would really pop the surface on this guy. I think that your "failure" was a very happy accident He looks great and I hope we continue to see more from ya!
I like the color scheme a lot... but I do take issue with the paint job a bit. Not because he looks battle damaged, as SQ7 said, but because he *looks* repainted next to pristine figures. He stands out too much in that regard, IMO. By himself, yes, he looks pleasantly banged-up, but the illusion doesn't stand up in diorama. Still, color scheme is awesomeness.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm glad (and shocked) that you like him. If I actually had the skill to dirty him up, I would. But I'm not that skilled of a Radicon... On the shelf it doesn't stick out that badly. The biggest offender is the left arm, which is the only part of the body I did not redo after the first time, as it was the only part that didnt flake or screw anything up in gun mode. I plan to redo that arm eventually. The worst thing is, Megs was my first repaint. After viewing Jin's MEgatron repaint, I wanted to do something similar. In doing so, I left a VERY...elevated texture to it. It was not good at all. After some time I was able to remove most of the original coat, save the left arm. *Sigh* It's a learning experience, but that makes Megs special.
