    Ebay:
So I bought Blackout and Irondhide Voyagers from HTS for $45, but they dont ship out for another 2 weeks. I also just bought a Dreamcast with 4 games, 2 controllers, 2 VMUs, and all the cables on ebay for the same price. I'm not too strapped for cash but I'm also content with the TFs I have. I'm really excited to play Soul Calibur, CvS2, MvC2, Power Stone 2 etc... should I just go for the DC or go for broke with both?

Blackout more or less sucks, skip him. Ironhide, while awesome in appearance isn't the greatest thing ever so if it's an issue, wait and get him aftermarket, since he's not really going to go skyrocket in value.

Definately go with the Dreamcast. I still play mine from time to time. Plus you can build an entire library purely off CD-R's.

Blackout does indeed suck, Ironhide is pretty awesome. Dreamcast is better than both though.

Most of the good DC games were ported to other systems recently, and a few were also PC titles. I wish I could find Omikron for PC... a working version, anyway.

Dreamcast, Hands Down. Try to find the Japanese version of Super Street Fighter II. The Dip Switches in it allow you to tweak it and unlock things that can't be done in any other version. (IE: Tien-Gouki, the only time you can play as Gouki and have the Hell Murder in Super Turbo)

DC Unreal Tournament is still one of my 5 favorite games. And Soul Calibur!!! Well, ya just gotta have it.

I vote on the DC. It gets more use in my place than the PS2 does. It's nearly as fun as the Wii!

blackout kinda sucks. He's pretty, but not THAT pretty. I don't own Ironhide.

You can repair it but it takes some kitbash-like patience.

Oh, and thanks to everyone for bringing me to my senses. :thumb

If by defect you're talking about the Dreamcast spontaneously resetting itself, the fix only takes a few minutes. This is paraphrased and expanded slightly upon from
    http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-14636.html
and details how to fic it:
-Unplug the Dreamcast and open the case.
-Take out the screws on the PSU (the board to the left)
-Unclip the white clip thing at the back of the psu
-Lift the PSU. You'll see a white thing towards the bottom right of the PSU, it has 4 or 5 pins in it and makes it hard to lift off, grab the PSU by the edge next to that and lift it off from there (you may need to use a little force).
-You will now see the pins that make contact between the motherboard and the PSU. Clean them with methylated spirits and a cotton bud, also you might want to clean the holes they go into. You may also want to VERY gently bend them back towards where the contacts go (as the DC heats up, these pins can bend away from their contacts, another cause of the spontaneous resets).
-Put it all back together, plug it in, and enjoy your games.
It took me about 10 minutes, and I still play my DC to this day. :thumb

(all of which should definitely clarify my opinion on your question, Nerdling; GET THE DREAMCAST D00D.)

Dreamcast has my favourite games of several genres.

    Grandia 2, favourite rpg.
Capcom vs SNK 2, favourite fighter.
Seaman, favourite whatever the fuck that game was.

Yeah, Grandia 2 was awesome. worth owning the system just for it. the PS2 port of it was one of the worst I've ever seen.

    Dreamcast all the way.

    get shenmue.

    I'd take the lot.
Blackout and Ironhide will only get harder and more expensive to get as time goes.

Find some money for an arcade stick or a converter if you've got one for the PS2. Playing fighting games with pads is lame on any system, but playing MVC2 on them will only lead to mediocrity and arthritis.

The Dreamcast is the worst console ever produced. Horrible horrible trainwreck! No one should ever buy it. Go for the TF's.

    you cannot possibly be serious.

The Dreamcast is all the goodness of puppies and rainbows crammed into a little white box.
