I love the idea of Hatchet being the leader, based on his toy bio where he's mentioned to be a tactician. Just because it'd be unique to have something that's more beast than mech to be the one in charge.
In the Mexican standoff, the body language does kinda make it look like Crankcase is asking Crowbar what the plan is in their crazy incoherent babbling.
I heard that in the mobile game, the superfund bank truck was a Dread. The first time I saw that truck, I wanted it to be a CON. Now that the movie is out, I'll always think of it as the Dread that never transformed.
I guess you could also say that crowbar has the longest dreads because he's the leader. Not mocking, I'm just pointing it out.
I always thought that before the film came out, Crankcase was the leader, because, well, he's based on the Predator. Maybe it was just that he was the first Dread I became familiar with. In the actual film, it was Crowbar who was giving the order to drop their weapons in the Mexican standoff, and he was the first to transform on the highway battle and he cleared a ramp for the other two. Makes me think that Crankcase and Crowbar are the "actual" Dreads, while Hatchet is the watchdog.
Taking a peek into the Resources section, Crankcase and Crowbar both share a Rank of 8. Hatchet is bringing up the rear with a 4. Granted Tech Specs aren't always an accurate representation, but hey, it's a numerical value.
It's quite evident Crowbar is the leader. He transformed first, grabbed Simmons, and did the barrel roll of awesonness. Crankcase just Hung around in the background, saying not to get hit by cars Hatchet was headbutting.
...where the heck did the idea that Hatchet's "just a dog" come in? Going by the toys and bios, Hatchet would make a logical leader. He's a tactician, therefor he would inevitably be giving the other Dreads some commands. His toy further sets him apart as he's a military aircraft with his own drones, whereas Crowbar and Crankcase are police automobiles. Plus, he's Commander class while the other two are Legion. On the other hand, both Crowbar and Crankcase outrank Hatchet. And Crankcase has a fancy Deluxe toy. EDIT: And Hatchet's toy bio says he obeys another, unnamed Commander...
