The best Way to do Dbz is to do it in a way like the Beowolf movie or the cgi final fantasy movies.

That's why most of the DBZ animated movies end up being way better than the series.

i'll be honest, i don't like the casting choices. I like the actors, but chatwin is just TO boyish looking and masters, as great as he is, just seems to old to play a younger piccalo. either way this film looks like its going to be a rush job to cash in on DBZ

    *sigh*

I'm going to hate this movie so much...I can just feel it....

Next thing you know, Uwe Bowl will be directing it.

I am not sure how stephen chow gonna translate his HK's slap stick comedy into hollywood. Perhaps he's helping out with the choreograph.

I can see Chatwin playing Goku, as this appears to be a teen Goku, most probably during the end of the Original DragonBall Series, where Goku faces off agasint the Piccolo, meaning before Goku turns Super Sayian, or screams his lungs out, or heck, even gets married.

I'll tred on the optimistic side on this movie, I was/and still am a fan of the series(Including GT), so these casts/plots kind of make me want to cringe. But I'll live, as I'll wait until 8-18-08, when the monkeys are let loose.

I like James Marsters, but for Piccolo? Really?

Well I loathe the idea of live action Dragonball anyway so whatever.

At least I still have my cartoons.

Nothing but suckatude can come from this movie. DBZ is one of those animes/mangas that would only work in CGI or Animation. Any live action will seriously make it look corny. Also I'm suprised this is happening, show wise DBZ has been dead for years in Japan and for a couple in the US.

The only thing left for FUNimation to do so they can bleed a bit more money out of the series.

I'm really excited based on the casting choice for Piccolo alone! This is going to be f'ing epic.

Piccolo is the bad guy? I can actually kind of see Marsters as Piccolo, but I don't see Piccolo as the bad guy. I mean, sure back in DragonBall, he was kind of a baddie, but in Z, he was just a good guy with a dickheaded attitude.

    So much for Vegeta. :(

EDIT>> I was under the impression this was a DBZ movie. The web link about the actors only lists it at DragonBall. My bad.

Honestly, let the entire Dragonball franchise just DIE already. We don't need any more coming from it; it's become a dried up husk of its former self. And I really don't want fifty more meaningless DBZ fighting games. They're all the same to me.

I used to be a huge fan of DBZ...spent countless dollars on the vhs tapes back when that was the only way to get the episodes...but what sucked was the pointless 20 some odd minute episodes of nothing but pointless plot...even the episode where Goku went SS3, they spent the entire episode watching him scream and the earth shaking. But I do admit, that song they played in the backround while he powered up was pretty cool. I stopped watching it when they ended the Z series.

Now, as far as my opinions on a live action, I need to see some previews before I make any real judgement. Sure, a lot of aspects sound horrible at this point...but only time will tell. The main sound of it sounds like they need to get a lot of things right in this movie to make it even decent. So, I am gonna wait for previews to make a real opinion.

I'm willing to give this a shot I think the guy they got for Goku is an odd choice but I'm willing to give him a chance. Just get Woo Ping Yuen for the choreaography and the movie will definetly be sick nasty.

    Very uh...conflicted over this.

Been a fan of DBZ for a long while, and much like Transformers...I'm worried about the leap to live action.

However remembering how I first felt towards the TF movie and now knowing how much I loved it..yeah I'm just gonna wait and see on this one.

FUNimation isn't making this movie, nor did they sell the rights to those who are. FOX apparently met Akira Toriyama(Probably spelt his last name wrong...), and got the rights to make Live Action Films based on the DragonBall Franchise(DB/DBZ/DBGT) from Toei and Toriyama.

Also, when FUNimation released thier first DragonBall Z "REMASTERED AND UNCUT" Boxsets, it was announced the first set became the best selling Anime Release in History.Certainly a lot more than "a bit more money". This is also confirmed by the fact that Bandai reclaimed their rights to make and distribute the Action Figures in North America.

Aye, this is Dragonball (best of the 3 series heh) not DBZ.

And more casting announcements. Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi
