The first piece of new DragonBall animation that isn't in a video game has just come out. It takes place right after the defeat of Buu (small version) and is about someone never heard about before. With a story penned by series author Akira Toriyama, DragonBall takes off once more!

The special is streaming for free on Jumpland's website until January, you have to download a browser, and even then pending on the age of your PC it may not work, but you can try here, and watch it legally with English subtitles. Or find it off some other popular video sites that has two letter "u"s in its' name...

Oh wow, waves of nostalgia washed over me at the opening refrain of Cha-la Head-Cha-La. I have to say I loved the reworked opening animation. Thanks for posting this.

It's firmly in the slightly silly camp of DB...which is fine for me. I always preferend the more equal spacing of humor and fighting from DB then the 30 minutes of grunting and motion blur that was your typical DBZ ep.

Also..LAUNCH! She doesnt get to say anything, but it's nice to see they havent forgotten she still exists.

As much as I want to watch this, it's too small to read most of the subtitles, so I'll just wait for the eventual english dub release.

    That was....ehh.
I enjoyed it. The animation, which I suspect was done by the same team that did the Budokai games' openings, was pretty nice. The humour was good. I do wish there was a bit more action. At least the action that was there was more visual than just lines clashing at each other in the sky.

Loved it for what it was, a short and fun little movie. It was nice seeing all of these characters again, I've been away from the world of DBZ since the finale ran on Cartoon Network about 5 years ago. Trying to spot all of the cameos at the banquet was fun too (Bubbles!)

I also noticed that the original Dragonball theme plays as Goku strikes the final blow, that was a neat touch. There's probably a ton of other stuff that I'm missing, since I'm not familiar with the original Japanese version.

    That was really fun!

Loved the interaction between Goku and Vegita "Hey, Vegita, what's that?" -zips away-

really funny and light hearted. =)

The animation was really great too... almost too good to be DBZ ;)

Yeah he was extra involved with this, so it wasn't a complete load of crap like DB GT.
