I totally disagree. I really liked the pacing of the new battle system, and it reminded me of KOTOR and old D&D games like Baldur's gate. I was kinda getting tired of the old menu system (with good guys on the right and bad guys on the left). Also, the action in 12 wasn't really real-time, in that you could pause the action at any time and issue orders, and then release the pause, which is exactly like Fallout and Mass Effect, as well as Dragon Age. In fact, DA's battle system looks like FF12, which looks like Kotor, which goes all the way back to Baldur's Gate 1 on PC
You can pause the action in Mass Effect as well. Dragon Age has a simlar combat engine as Oblivion from what I've seen.
Yeah, I know, that's what I meant. Only reason I wouldn't compare it to Oblivion is because, if you took away everything from Oblivion and just had the character running with a blank background, it could be confused for a FPS. This game allows you to zoom away to an almost traditional RPG view and assign orders to all of your characters. Oblivion is just you and, you slash with an attack button. In DA, your main character does the fighting, you just tell him what to do with commands.
I lied I do have 12 but don't remember it that well. Current game collection it's a couple days old Uncharted 2 is not pictured.
Had to bribe the wife to quit playing, My Wii lineup is lacking I know. Pre-ordered the collectors edition of DA Origins hoping this game meets all the hype.
Yeah can hurt me if it doesn't. Yeah, I preordered from Gamestop. The in-game items seem cool, especially the one that increases the EXP you get in battles.
Games that I don't play make their way to the bottom. Glad I got a 60 gig PS3 is all I am going to say.
You could totally hate the story and characters, brother from another mother. But you pick the character, you select an action, and you point at the enemy (or enemies) to apply the action to, and then you accept and the action begins, if you need to heal someone, you click on the character, pause the action, select heal, then select the recipient, and bam a few seconds later, he's healed. I was a fan of that style of gameplay before ever playing Final Fantasy games, (The old Dungeons and Dragons Gold Box games), so FF12 was very fun for me, and so has almost anything from Bioware. I sleep with RPGs. There I said it.
How did FF12 get a bad reputation? That game had a great battle system that actually worked similar to Baldurs Gate/KOTOR but ran about 80 times smoother and everything worked perfectly and was way more customizable. People just seem to not like it becuase it uses more colors then brown and the characters aren't all brooding warriors. (in other words, its a JRPG) All that being said, I still can't wait for Dragon Age. I still feel its gonna be the best this year has to offer despite other fine offerings.
If I did, I wasn't aware. I'm just rippin on the Jaguar because I actually bought one and regretted it a few hours later.
