How about you take a look at the G1 boxart first.

 

neither of these are an improvement over city commanders face.

I've never understood why people were in such a haste to change CC's face, admittedly I don't own the armor set, but the face has always been one of my favorite aspects when looking at pictures.

 

Both faces look pretty bad...

 

I disagree with the majority. I think the big blue goggles look like a great homage. I'll probably be repainting them a slightly lighter shade of blue. Yea the yellow eyes are a homage to box art that I never really cared for, but its great for a few people who are.

 

Reminds me of the face I sculpted for Hercules.

Man people are still making stuff for City Commander after all this time, and apparently they still suck pretty hard at it too  .

 

 
The implication was a 3rd party product probably shouldn't look like something I spent a day to make.

 

I'd rather see the Shadow Scythe face in package and applied. These are a little off and unnecessary.

 

I agree. I've never understood why people are unhappy with the original. The face sculpt for City Commander isn't perfect, but I definitely get an Ultra Magnus vibe from it every time I see it.

Even if the sculpt was so bad it needed replacing, I don't think these options are good enough on their own merit to justify the upgrade.

 

Thanks but no thanks. Hate to say it but the new face, both faces, look rather cruddy. I wouldn't ruin my City Commander with those 2 faces. Besides what is wrong wth City Commmander's original face? It's awesome.

 

Bingo. I hope Headmasters can give us a better more G1-styled face and head (the stock FP head is too small for CC's body proportions-wise, IMHO). iGear did make a head for their IG-TF001 CC add-on set; which I'd like to get my hands on (for the hammer and weapons) if it wasn't so bloody expensive. But even iGear's head looks off and a bit too small.

 

If someone could make a CAD render of the Myclone Magnus face after fitting its dimensions onto the CC helm, then put it on Shapeways... I think that'd be sweet.

The Dr. Wu faceplates for UM and Rodimus are... meh.
