I bought Cybertron Downshift today. Coolest toy in the Cybertron line, in my opinion. I am so psyched about this toy. Let's go down the checklist of awesomeness...

-Very realistic car mode: Check.
-Not too much vehicular & robot kibble: Double check.
-Close to/in same scale size (roughly) with G1/Armada/Energon cars: Check.
-Gimmicks don't take away from robot & vehicle design: Check. Thank goodness.
-poseability: Check.
-Homage many of us have wanted to see: BIG CHECK.
-Playability, resiliency, kid-grabbing fun: Check.
-Overall presentation of toy:  

Excellent, excellent work, Hasbro. Coolest toy I've bought recently. He definitely trumps a good portion of the Alternators, too. Sooo cool!

 

My God I can't wait till it gets here!!

Wait... who is he an homage to, exactly?

 

He's Wheeljack. Those pictures don't really show his face, but he's got that unmistakable banded faceplate.

I've been wanting this guy, since the first pictures surfaced. Now, if I could just to a store that has new stock. The only game in this town is wal-mart, and they're still full up on the wave with the Armada remolds.  

Wonder if this is what the G1 Neo line, will be like.

 

Can't wait for Downshift to get here. He's going to steal Armorhides spot as fav Cybertron Scout. Might get 2 since the mold is so cool. Would make a sweet kitbash.

Well I guess I'm getting him if he ever shows up. I've been trying to keep non-show bots to a minimum, but he looks worth it.

It could be worse. My Target has peg space for 12 deluxes. We only had 9 out the other day and 7 of them were Red Alert. We have another case of nothing but Red, Override, Hot Shot, and Thundercracker in the back. I really want to 'accidentally' drop that case from the top of the ladders so we can get new stuff that will sell...

 

What's the name of the fig on the right? Is that a kitbash or a TF that I don't know about?

So he's really just an homage in the face. The Energon downshift was more of an overall Wheeljack homage. Still, fantastic looking figure, makes me sad I'm not collecting Cybertron.

 

The figure on the right is RID Grapple, a kitbash I just recently finished. I'm going to post a gallery here eventually...I need to finish his decals first.

...but I thought a shot of the two great Autobot engineers talking together would be awesome, so I put him into that shot.

 

Picked up CYB D'shift today... He's fraggle rockin' awesome!!! 

 

Yup, Downshift's cool.  Would be even cooler if the friggin neck TURNED though.

 

His launchers can also clip to his shoulder a la G1 Wheeljack. Also, his feet have the same detailing as the Energon Downshift, which you may notice is a nod to G1 Wheeljack's feet.
