    DOTM Voyager Megatron Version 2!

    UPDATE!

I wasn't 100% happy with the cape (it was a little too thick and didn't look right) and I wanted to give Megs his shotgun. So, after some pondering (and finishing Shockwave), I came up with the solution.

I originally glued the fabric on to Megs' plastic cape, hence the thickness. Well, for Version 2, I took out the plastic cape, and using the already cut fabric, made a new POSABLE cape!

Using a plastic twist tie, I created a frame for both halves of the cape and glued it on the inside. I dirtied it up a bit using a lighter, and now it's all fabric and posable! Along with being more dynamic in robot mode, it fits significantly better in vehicle mode as well. And, the head portion still fits inside without a problem. I can actually tuck the shotgun under there if I wanted!

While I was at it, I gave the windows a gloss black treatment (since someone commented on it, and I saw their point).

Finally, the shotgun. It's from a Gears of War Locust Grenadier Elite figure. The unmodified weapon won't sit in his hands. So, using some Apoxie Sculpt, I created a "handle" that slides into the slot on his hands. Also, I fashioned a connector so it can fit in the MechTech port on his back.

Now I'm really happy with the way he looks.

    Enjoy!

The shotgun. You can see the Mechtech adapter halfway down.

Other side of the shotgun. You can see the adapter piece on the handle.

    OLD POST
Working on this one has been exhausting, but I'm incredibly happy with the way he turned out.

I started by priming in flat black, then drybrushed that in steel. After that, I mixed a custom brown/tan for armor parts and whatnot. Then I did a second drybrushing in aluminum for battle damage. Then I did the chrome parts. Then I did the detail work. Then I did a black wash. Then I used three different colors for dirt, sand, and grass stains. Finally, I added chains and a cloth cape.

    So, without further delay...

    MEGATRON!

What do you mean? I don't do any kind of finish on my figures (although I probably should).

Nice work on the weathering, but I think that the cape thing needs to look a bit more tatty :)

I'm avoiding DOTM Voyager Prime. Considering the awesomeness of ROTF Prime, and the almost assured release of a DOTM Leader prime in the future, I was okay with it.

Well done, my only complaint are the windows, they look a bit sloppy and fit not to rest of the custom in my eyes, all the rest: well done like I said :)
