So, DOTM Megatron is a great toy, and his best alt mode of the series.

    However, he's a little short.

I'm in the process of painting mine, but I thought I'd share this. Another board member posted a picture of a modified Megatron similar to this, but I haven't been able to find it, so I'm posting this since I figured the community would probably want to take a stab at it.

This is what I'm using as a reference point.

First thing's first: you have to disassemble Meg's upper legs. There are two screws. Take them both out. Now, at the top, there's a pin. You don't have to disassemble the whole thing or pop the pin out, just remove the part that has the wheels attached to it. I used a small screwdriver.

Now, you should see Megatron's two leg/hip hinges. Right now, they have about a 90 degree range of motion. When we're done, it should be in the neighborhood of 135-145 degrees.

This is what I'm talking about.

What you want to do is shave down the downward facing corners. For reference, the side with the recessed hole faces his back, so you want to shave the part that faces down.

The modified one is on the left, the unmodified one is on the right.
    [IMG][/IMG]

Now, that's not all we're going to do. If you look at the inside of the part that attaches to the hip, you'll notice that it's mounted on a sliding track. Well, with a quick mod we can make it possible for these to slide again, giving Megs a little extra height and a wider stance, since we're decreasing his stance with the first part.

Here's the finished product. Modded on the left, unmodded on the right.

On the inside of the part with the wheels, there's a black piece attached to the wheels. When the wheels are folded up, part of that sticks out into the track, preventing it from moving. We're going to remove that.

Fold up the wheels so the black plastic piece is extended. Cut it flush with the surrounding plastic.

And all finished! This should add about a half inch to Megatron and make him (I think) slightly more screen accurate!

I like him unmodified since he's already taller than the Deluxe Optimus from Wal-Mart. They are in scale in vehicle mode, so I like to display them together and don't want Megatron towering too far above Prime.

I kept the pictures dark because I'm not 100% ready to reveal Megatron yet. Still have one more thing to do...

No worries! Yours inspired mine; I just figured out how you did it and wrote it up first.

Yours is where I figured out how to do mine... (couldn't understand from you post, sorry, hehe).

So I just looked under there and shaved off the corners that inhibit the movement. Didn't take the legs off either, it can be done with a nice sharp exacto knife and a steady hand.

That head is from a voyager movie 1 megs, tried that myself, but the ball joint was too small, how did you do this?

First off, its not a Movie 1 head, I thought so too until I saw this:

    http://tfkenkon.com/g/albums/Collection/act444/voyager_megatron15.jpg

Its the head from a Movie 1 Fast Action Battler, just did a little Googling to find it:

Anyway, right behind the balljoint hole is a large flat area, just drill a hole slightly smaller than the DOTM balljoint, and with a little pressure it just pops right on and holds pretty tight.
