http://fandan.co/l/6013RHRc Ouch, Potter is tracking at 17% of sales and Transformers 3, 4 days out, isnt even in the top 5 for ticket sales, below 3%
Of course it is. It's the last Harry Potter movie (hopefully). You can't tell me you didn't see this coming.
Considering the fact that they moved the date up (Twice) most people still think its July 1st, not June 28th. And the people who do know, probably are not worried because it is a mid-week release which inherently lowers the crowds at the theater.
Pretty much. I had to go to the theatre because I couldn't use my gift card online. Let's also remember it is not the week of the release. You'll see alot of tickets sold at the door Tuesday night.
Thank you for contributing nothing to the thread. It's no real surprise; Harry Potter films are always huge box office hits. The fact that this will no doubt be the biggest and/or best of them doesn't really help.
But they always are very front-loaded and drop hard in their second weekend. Plus it is very much a fan-driven series like Twilight. I am sure it will be a hit but I doubt it will hurt Transformers that much...the fan-bases are vastly different.
twlight and harry potter will be making big bucks (twilight will get lots of money no doubt about that ) twilight has a huge fan base if anybody seen mtv arwards you know what I mean.
Harry Potter and Transformers are in two different leagues. Harry Potter has die hard fans who have Harry Potter themed parties, write Harry Potter encyclopedias, name their children after Harry Potter characters, and learn how to speak Parseltongue. Transformers has guys who buy chrome autobot emblems and stick 'em on the front of their Corollas and the occasional Taiwanese guy who builds a Bumblebee costume out of PVC piping. In short, there are more dedicated die-hard Harry Potter fans who are likely to buy their tickets in advance so they can bask in the magical nerdiness with a theater full of Pot-heads than there are Transformers movie fans.
