Last week I bought the delixe DOTM Soundwave....not bad.

But what's the deal with the weapon? I thought it was supposed to transform....instead, mine transforms into a radar dish when I pull it back and upon releasing it, it immediately flops back into the gun mode.

Is mine broken? Are there any others like this? Kinda sucks!

No DX class Metchtech weapons are designed to lock open.

It is a pity. How hard would it have actually been to make them lock? If figures were being downsized in DotM to allow for the Mechtech weapons then at the very least they all should've been able to lock in open mode.

    Alternative perspective:

They were being downsized anyway. Mechtech was added as a 'bonus', to divert attention from shrinkage. Overall cost to Hasbro is still less.

If you want it to stay open, then you have to open up the Mech Tech weapon and remove the spring.

Or just put a rubber band around it.

Once the spring is removed, it actually stays open pretty well; I have it displayed in radar dish mode.

or put enough tension (using super glue or wipe and shine) on the joints so that the spring won't be able to close the mechtech weapon.

Use a clear rubber band and stay away from glue or even taking it apart. It's really no big deal. I never opened my Soundwave but his Mechtech looks cool. I thought once released (default) it would change into the dish and once activated it turned into a gun.

I think Soundwave's MechTech is one of the best weapons from the entire line.

That's a pretty cool combo! May I know where do the silver guns on his shoulders come from?
