Minor/Repaint: DOTM Sideswipe

    got this guy the other day and hated it......wanted to make his car mode look more like the real thing...and added some dry brushing....thanks for looking

    Nice job! I did the same with mine. Hasbro really cheaped out on this one.

    Yeah no kidding! Saw this today looked at it for a second and put it back on the shelf. Curious, Is that a new head sculpt on there? Looks a little different to me.

    I understand how you feel. I was actually disappointed when I first saw the sideswipe toy for the third movie in toys r us.

    i used krylon metallic silver, and model masters acrylic black and gunmetal. and testors enamel silver for the dry brushing

    Why can the arms be under the fricking armour? ROTF dlx Sideswipe was the only one to get it right.

    did you do any sanding prior to painting it :confused:

    yeah some 220, then some wet sanding. scuffed up the bot mode parts a bit just to have some tooth for the paint to catch on.......not really my best work, but im improving

    Picked this up today, you really made it look wayyyyy better. Not sure if I'm gonna fix him up or just use him for parts!

    only bad thing about enamel is it's oil base and when you handle a toy that's been painted with oil-based paint the paint tends to be sticky when you hold it for a certain amout of time

    Clear cote will take care of that, also try to handle with latex (or similar) gloves to avoid the thumb prints.

    I did the same to mine but re-did it with acrylic because the enamel started to feel sticky after a few minutes holding it
