"Optimus..." Seriously..that's it? Really laughing my ass off just thinking about that. Did I miss out any of his other conversations or was it really just one word for a renowned Decepticon villain.

In anycase, I was really impressed by his cold nature. I felt that it was depicted pretty well in the movie. Cold and calm. ANd where did he get that cybertron driller from anyway?

Well, introducing my version of Shockwave. Shockwave was painted in a special blend of mystique purple. And if you pay close attention, I had to change my camera white balance to 'daylight' in order to capture this strong mystique shade. ANy other modes of white balance will render his purple a dark blue. However, the camera was still not able to capture the true shade of the mystique purple. It looks fuller with more depth in real life.

    Some features of Shockwave include:

    - Sanded and filed for texturing
    - Mod swapped his 2 hands so that it looks more pleasing with the screws facing back (very troublesome mod)
    - Custom blend of mystique purple with numerous detailings

He looks LOVELY under your brushes, no shock (and no pun intended!) :)

It is pretty funny that they pulled such a bait-and-switch marketing move,
sticking him in the movie JUST to have a villain to stick in the trailers.

It's fun to see you do flats, I'd forgotten just how BEAUTIFUL your work is in non-metallic, and it was definitely the right choice for this piece! His head especially looks like it's alive!

Overall it looks nice. I just am not feeling the red and blue accents, they look out of place with the other flat, muted, colors which suit Shockwave more.

Thanks folks. I'm really glad to have pulled of the phototaking. I had to retake it many times due to the colours turning out blue.

I'm not feeling the red and blue accents either, looks out of place, the shade of purple is nice though.

I like the accents, personally. It's a nice break-up from the standard two-color dull repaints I've been seeing with this mold. Very nice job.

Thanks. I can understand where you're coming from but without the striking accents, he looks kinda..boring??

You;re welcome. That's the reason why I actually highlighted him in more vibrant colours.

I really like the coloured accents. The red goes with his eye and the blue goes with the purple!

    Nicely done as always. :)

I agree. As a general rule of thumb a tertiary scheme works best for the cons, or else they start to look like they have an identity crisis. If you want to give him more of a less traditional paintjob take a look at the color wheel and pick a scheme from that...either monochromatic, tertiary, complimentary etc. I would have loved to see a mix of golds, bronzes, coppers and purple to really give him the look of royalty.

Althiugh at first I was not fond of the red and blue, I now fully disagree with Zildjan because those tiny details do give shockwave a better personality and versatility. nice job!

nice purple..like the attention of detailing touch you put on him too..

when you say that you filed for texturing, is it means that you fill some hole with putty? i dont have shockwave figure, but skyhammer's have a lot of holes in his back :D
