In honor of the toys official release date, I wanted to purchase and repaint one of the new line before the end of the day. I really like Shockwaves design for the film, so I went with him, though Skyhammer was really calling to me too for a Vortex repaint. This guy is not only my fastest repaint ever, but also my first completed Transformer EVER. After 5 years of drifting in and out of the hobby, finally really got one done. Enjoy! C&C more than welcome, I'm sure theres alot of stuff i could be doing better.

They should have produced this guy in THIS shade of purple, not that one.
And the cannon arm is much fitter on the left arm.

    Cool man.

Very nice. Was that a simple canon swap or did you have to modify the left arm?

Yeah, I'm curious about this too. How difficult was the swap? It looks good.

    Thanks man!

Thanks. I hope you get him soon, he's a pretty great figure.

I definitely agree. I don't think the color they put him in is even close to his film appearance either, so a weird choice.

Its just an easy swap. He's got a peg hole on each forearm. HOWEVER, it was definitely made for the right arm. The peg hole on the right arm is more in the middle, so the cannon really fits alot more snuggly and seamlessly against that arm. But I think it still looks fine on the left. Only thing that sucks is the bad side of the blade is facing forward on his right arm. I can live with it though.

    thanks!

    haha, i appreciate it

I actually like it alot with the cable, but it just restricts movement so much, and the back connection doesn't really work (unmodded) with the cannon on the left arm

I like his hands, but i do wish they could rotate. That would be such an easy thing to design into the figure, but hasbro skimps again... tsk tsk

    See above.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! I really appreciate them. Maybe I'll finally be able to finish up some of my WiP TFs now.

Thanks man. Since a few people have mentioned the shade of purple on him, i thought i'd give the recipe in case anyones interested. The whole figure was base coated in matte black duplicolor fabric and vinyl dye spray (awesome, awesome stuff, prefer it hands down over krylon), heavy drybrush of howard hues acrylic royal purple, then a really really light drybrush of GW chainmail. Hope that helps.

    Great job, really nice work.

Not a shade I actually like on this particular design though, I much prefer the darker color of the original.

    But again awesome work.
