I haven't been to Target in a while but I just saw deluxe DOTM figures for $16 and voyagers for $24. Shelfwarmers getting a 5 dollar price hike. Nice.

No reason at all to buy at that price. None.

It's their way of getting people to buy a $13 RID Bumblebee instead of a $16 DOTM Bumblebee.

Seriously though I was surprised when I first saw this, esp when Walmart has DOTM deluxes for $7.27 and voyagers for $15.

Sadly DOTM isn't the only victim, GI Joe figures shot up from $8.99 to $10.99, while Walmart still has them for $6.97. Heck even the local grocery store sells them for less than Target ($9.99).

If they couldn't get the DOTM toys to go in the normal price, what on Earth would make them think going higher would make them move?

Maybe if they were under five dollars they might clear them out. I can find the same figures at Walmart for a lower price if I didn't have them.

I think someone was speculating that these were pre-clearance prices, i.e. raise the price then "clearance" them at 30/50/70% off to make them seem like a sweet deal.

Target might also have "cross-referenced" Dark of the Moon with the current Prime toys. It's something they do with Star Wars often to keep selling "older product" even as new lines cycle in.

    And Sideways77?
My Walmart is currently running deluxes at $7.26, 11 is freakin expensive :p

I'm pretty sure this is just a thing Target is doing now.

Apparently they want their DotM stuff to stick around FOREVER.

if they were going to clearance them I don't know why they would go back to pre-sale prices.

Generally this is what happens when you liquidate...not clearance. You go back to full price and then whittle it down. Usually with clearance you just go straight down in price. ALTHOUGH, I recall when I worked at Target you would see this happen with certain things like blenders and appliances. They stop selling so well so you clearance the fuck out of them. Once you get down to a certain amount of units in stock they go back to the normal price and then you start all over again.

it is kind of hard to see logic of doing that with a movie toyline than is well beyond finished.
