    What "information released"?

I check Box Office Mojo every day. Earlier today, DOTM was listed still behind Return of the King, now it's beaten it. That's all the information I have. What else do you want?

The problem with the whole inflation adjustment angle is that it's still not accurate since it's all based off an estimated ticket cost of less than $10 set somewhere in the 1980's. So basically they (Box Office Mojo and whoever else) just picked a time period and price that THEY determine as an average and then do their nonsensical math from there.

Translated: screw the inflation argument altogether. It's as moot as it is irrelevant. Time passes and prices change, so what's now is now AND it's accurate based on the present. People need to deal with it and quit using hypothetical numbers to make their favorite movies look better or their least favorite movies look worse for sake of debate.

Out of spite, you should use that money to buy DOTM on Blu-Ray (If you don't have it) and a few figures.

    The inflation argument is ignorant.

I'll counter it with the prevalence of boot-legs. how many people who saw the movie on boot-leg would have spent their money at the theater instead? I have friends who ONLY watch boot-legs, as they are free and easy to get.

Good on the TF industry for having such high numbers at the box office. It means more toys, more shows and more movies.

I was a hater at first. "This ain't my G1", I said. Now Movie Prime is my favorite Optimus incarnation.

Who would say, 5 years ago, that our beloved Transformers would be amongst the top in Hollywood?

Now you walk outside and see people proudly sporting Autobot and Decepticon symbols in their cars, shirts and hats. It's awesome.

I find the attempt to compare the box office of films to be fairly insane because there are just too many factors to ever get an honestly fair comparison.

Older films like Gone with the Wind have an unfair advantage over new films even with the inflation estimations because the theater business was very different than it is today. With no TV as an alternative form of entertainment movies were a main source of entertainment for most people and movie ran in theaters far longer than they do today.

International numbers are a tough business because the world rise increase in the middle class means that more people have the disposable income to spend on movie than people did only 5 or 10 years ago.

An accomplishment? Yes. Just not sure that I'd go ranking movie based only on their box office or depend on a fickle public loving something forever given how flavor of the month the movie business can be.
