Wow, I didn't know that Cars 2 is opening the week before DOTM, DOTM should easily beat out Cars 2 but you never know

I don't see how Transformers couldn't beat out Cars 2. I think it's an easy win for DOTM. :rock

Cars is one of the lower grossing Pixar films. That's not saying much considering all but 2 broke the 200 Million Domestic mark, but it should provide ample counter-programming for families that don't find the carnage of DOTM appealing.

I don't doubt Transformers ability to draw, but I believe the Cars juggernaut is likely bigger. It gets to a younger and there-by wider audience. More kids - more parents.

Cars is terrible. Why would they move the date?

It's hard to believe that Cars 2 will make anything compared to DOTM or HP. Yes, it does attract the younger audiences and their parents but outside of that (besides fans) that's it. IMO Transformers has a wider appeal range.

DOTM will also probably take some 3D Screens away from releases like Green Lantern and Cars 2 upon release, given that Paramount probably wants to stack the potential 3D Profit margin as high as it can.

I think DOTM will certainly clinch it's opening weekend, I just don't think it'll be by quite as wide of a margin as many might be expecting.

DOTM is going to kills Cars 2 gross, Pixar should be changing the date. I can't stand Owen Wilson, can't believe they're letting that coke head voice a character like lightning McQueen, kinda funny thought since I just bought a lighting McQueen Power Wheels for my 3 year olds birthday. That's another question, After DOTM releases, I want to take my son to see it, he's been talking about it all the time, and he's been playing with the figures that just got released, I was thinking of catching an afternoon showing where it's not crowded, what do you guys think? Is 3 too young? and he does not cry, it would stay quiet

If he's three then the movie probably won't even register to him except for loud sounds and flashes haha.

you're probably right, but he would go nuts everytime Bumblebee is on the screen, he can name every character in the film.

The one thing I'm surprised about is the lack of Toy Displays for the new Toy line. I remember when the ROTF toy line started Toys R Us had a huge display up front, this year they had nothing, just 1/3 of the shelf filled with the Leaders, Voyagers and deluxes, but they were missing a lot of the characters. and it took Target 2 days to put the line out, and guess where they put it? Not in the toy section but by the pool supplies, bunch of idiots.

My point is the only thing that will help DOTM break box office records is word of mouth from parents, Word of Mouth made the first transformers huge.

....Or too old for Transformers either :lol

I noticed several other movies that were coming out the 1st of July thru the 4th and just had a feeling they'd move up the release date for DOTM. :thumb

DOTM isn't going up against Cars 2... it's going against Larry Crowne, even with it moving up a couple of days.

Is that just for the US, or UK and other July 1st established countries too?

If the cars from "Cars2" transformed to robots, DOTM would be doomed.

Well at least DOTM gets two extra days to make even more cheddar. Also, didn't TF1 get the same early treatment?
