    So far, it seems like up until this point DOTM hasn't had as much of a push as ROTF had by this point in the timeline leading up to opening night. I can't back it up with any statistical data, and I know that Bay even had to cry foul over the lack of marketing push for ROTF back then - but it seems like the same thing over again. I'm perfectly willing to admit I'm wrong, but maybe I'm not. Thoughts? Data?

    I also get the feeling that the marketing of DOTM has been toned down compared to ROTF. I remember ROTF marketing everywhere before it hits theatres but Im not seeing that now.

    There's marketing, they're just not pushing as hard. Not like they need to. Some ads and commercials is really all they need.

    It does seem like DOTM isn't being hyped as much as ROTF.

    there are two reasons, maybe thre why DOTM isnt broadcasted as much as ROTF...

    1. even though i LOVED ROTF, the critics didnt. So maybe there being modest??

    2. they are already taking extreme measures to hide the story. (Q, Dino, Twins, the new toys) not televising the movie unless its a big event (superbowl, NBA Finals, Mtv Movie Awards...) seems logical.

    3.the economy is low, it cost money for comercials. ??idk

    It feels like they are definitely taking a laid-back 'we're not gonna tell you everything before you see the movie' kind of attitude.

    Even with the footage shown at Botcon's HoF event, Bay even admitted the scenes in the reel wouldn't give away any spoilers, and it seemed that way.

    Though I do applaud them for their restraint, as I'm still formulating my own thoughts and have questions that I intend to stay away from knowing the answers to until I see the movie.

    Paramount can save money on the marketing. Lets be honest, it doesn’t really need much apart from a few TV spots here and there.

    PLEASE tell me they're bringing back strawberried-peanutbutter. That stuff was good enough to even smash into dust and snort it :lol

    In terms of marketing, they're really keeping alot about the movie secret. We haven't seen any footage of Megatron, only that 1 shot of Sentinel Prime in the preview trailer that came out in December, and no footage of Soundwave either.

    It's like an owner dangling a treat over a dog's head. The owner lowers the treat, the dog jumps up, as soon as the dog is about to clamp down on the treat the owner raises it even higher so the dog can't reach it.
    Simply put:
    Owner=Bay/Hasbro and Co
    Treat=Potential release of new info
    Dog=Us

    This gives me hope however that this movie is gonna be great.

    yes, less marketing, and I LOVE it, I remember ALL those tv spots of ROTF... when I saw the movie, I was like "and then this happens"... and stuff like that, damn, I didn't really enjoyed paying money to see ROTF in the cinema... but now, I WANT to see DOTM in 3D and enjoy it so hard even if it sucks, I just love to watch realistic transformers in the middle of a mayhem... :p

    Promo and marketing doesn't have to give away details. Imo they could step it up but if your product is good you don't need hype however, I've talked to people that don't even know there's a third movie and I can't believe it.

    Maybe it's just the stuff I watch on TV but it seems like I've seen more Harry Potter ads than I have Dark of the Moon ads.

    That's because Harry Potter movies blow every other movie into dust opening week/weekend.

    And before I get rage directed at me consider this:

    Just how many Transformers Fans also flood the theater to see the Potter movies.

    Mikey is just playing it safe.

    Hush now, it'll all be over soon. :D
