After taking a look at the head mod vids, I decided to mod a few other areas on my new Leader Ironhide...

Looking at his massive arm kibble (essentially 80% of the truck sides) I really wanted to mod them. I'm no Frenzy Rumble or Matt Booker. I can basically unscrew stuff and cut... Thats the extent of my butchery... Dont bother asking me to pull out a pin...

I was able to take a look inside the arms and decided to elliminate the smoke stack levers and automorping gun gearing. I'm not a huge fan of automorph anyway. And Those guns were a huge thorn in my side with regaurds to slimming down the arm kibble. I wish I had the skill to just cut off the sides and adhere them to the shoulders. Just like movie 1 voyager IH. But I'm just not that good...

I'm basically folding the truck sides around the bottom and backs of IH's arms. And removing / collapsing the automorph guns inside his forearms.

    Thats it.

If anyfan has some ideas to make this decent Leader better, please share!

    Thank you.

The cannons really do look better when closer to the arms like that. Nice job.

    Thanks!

I really wanted to love this figure. But for his size (and price) I feel like so much more could have been done to him before mass production.

Especially when you look at SP or Leader BB. The arms. Guns. The legs. The paint...

Anyfan have an idea to mod the back butt plate?

This is interesting. I feel the same about this figure.

I need to compare before and after images to get a better feeling.

Hmm, How are the guns adhered in robot mode? Do they still extend? I assume he's still transformable? I like the look, but I'd be curious to see better shots of exactly what was done to make it work.

I'll be honest. I am a novice basher.
I prettty much gutted the gears and all but one of the cannon supports.
One support remains on each cannon so we can convert them to bot mode.
My main goal was to slim down the arms.
And make the cannons extend forward from above the hands.
    Not over and above...
I hope you guys like it.
This figure is good. But kinda flawed for features I don't need...

And I hope we can improve him.

I'm not sure about the but flap piece, not much to work with there, plus it's integral to the truck bed structure in alt mode. I do However suggest getting an automatic center punch and punching the pins to remove the arm kibble/truck sides. I did it and it looks great and you can fold them up and store them on his back under the windshield. here's a link to the tool, & I'll post pics of the mod tonight.

General Tools 87 Pocket Automatic Center Punch:Amazon:Home Improvement

you may have to cut and paste the link if it doesn't work by clicking.

Removed arm kibble? Placed on his back?

Sounds good to me. Looking forward to pics...

I just turned mine from side to side very carefully applying pressure until it popped loose no damage at all and it swivels fine now. Thats just what i did but you must put quite a bit of pressure so be very slow and careful. Hope this helps???

Use a blowdryer, and then twist from side to side slowly until it comes loose.

Does this tool really work at removing pins easier than a hammer and nail? I'm interested in getting one now.

I hope I'm not threadjacking here, but I'll answer this one.
it depends on the situation. if there is just a small amount of plastic around the pin, or if it's really stubborn, you may have to start it with the automatic punch and finish with a hammer & regular punch. but in most cases I find it easier since it's only one tool instead of trying to balance & center the punch while hitting it with the hammer, but sometimes you have to use the hammer method. I'll post pics today of the mod. it's also great for
marking spots to drill or start a screw. Worth picking up.
