There's really only a couple figures from the DOTM line that I really liked, this being one of them. Being a Chevy guy, I'm kinda partial to the Camaro, so painting this was a lot of fun. I started by spraying Testors Dark Anodonic Grey metalizer on all of his bot mode parts. After sealing them, I gave them several washes of a dark charcoal metallic enamel that I mixed up, to give it a little bit of a worn look. Then I brought out some of the details with MM Gold, Brass, and Silver Chrome. For the car mode, I mixed up a HoK yellow with a bit of copper and orange pearl, to match the GM color used in the movie. I used 4 different shades of black around the body and tires to break up the tones a little bit as well, followed by a few coats of Testors Wet Look Lacquer. He's up on Ebay now, 7 day auction no-reserve. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190553921843
Wow bro! Looks fantastic! I had absolutely no inclination to pick this guy up, but I think I'm sold now! Was the Metalizer the buffable kind? I don't recognize that particular shade.
Thanks guys! Yes BH, it is the buffing metalizer, same color I used on my MP Grimlock as well, I think it's the darkest shade they have before gunmetal.
Very good! I love those Metalizers. I find them more durable than Alclad, although Alclad beats them hands down in shinyness.
Looks factory painted but a hundred times more awesome! I think you missed those small red lights on the side of the car near the taillights, though. You painted the front ones
Wow!!!! What a difference a repaint makes!!!!!! If only Hasbro sold it this way, it would probably be selling like hotcakes!!!!!! Good job!!! And I envy the lucky buyer... :-(
