    The fans in Australia have been fortunate enough to have this TakaraTomy product available in mass retail thanks to Hasbro AU :)
    The price is varied depending on retailers or if they are doing sale. (AU$148 ~ $170).

    The box is MASSIVE. It was so huge I forgot to complain about the rather expensive price tag (I know it is a still very reasonable compared to Japanese retail, but still.)

    It is 31 x 44 x 21cm (12.2 x 17.3 x 8.2inch).

    The blurbs on the back of the box are in English, I assume unlike regular TakTom release. The instruction sheets are in English as well.

    Totally poseable!

    He is basically Buster Prime with detachable fuel tanks/gun. There are some changes though.

    1. Abdomen.

    2. Omission of spring loaded arm blades. There are blades moulded onto the forearms;
    [IMG]

    3. Mechtech ports on forearms;
    [IMG]

    4. Indents on lower back to attach the jetpack;
    [IMG]

    5. Joints under the forearms to attach the gatling guns.

    [IMG]

    Storage for the fuel tanks - the backpack can't be attached while the fuel tanks are on Prime's back. Because of this, the original ROTF Leader class Prime can't wear this jetpack.

    is HUGE.

    Overall, he supports the weight of his backpack fairly well. He has no problem standing tall and looking pretty. Though once you start trying to pose him, balancing gets tricky. He has additional, detachable "heels" for support, but it doesn't help much with action poses.
    [IMG]

    The backpack itself is very easy to put on Prime, it snaps on the back with the spring loaded clip and very secure.
    [IMG]
    [IMG]

    Buster Prime can wear the backpack, but since he lacks the indents on the lower back, it doesn't fit very well. Keeping the backpack on Buster for a long time will probably not be good for the spring in the clip.
    [IMG]

    The gatling guns are easy to attach, and there are extra supports that connect the jetpack and the guns. These parts are made of soft plastic. Hopefully they keep better than Jetfire's belts.
    [IMG]

    Vehicle mode (Sorry about awkward pictures. I should have angled the wings better.)
    [IMG]

    Backpack and gatling guns connect securely. Mechtech ports on wings come handy in this mode I think.
    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    Overall, to me he was worth the money. I love ROTF Leader Prime mould, and don't mind having multiple of him.

    Ditto! After seeing Syd's initial pics of this guy in the cool stuff thread, and then seeing this review, I've definitely got to pick this up.

    great review! i like how you gave attention to the important details in your text. if it weren't for the almost USD200 tag of this guy here, i can say you got me sold on it.

    The price and lack of paint on both the armor parts and the base figure make it highly disappointing.

    If they did a detail-up version of the armor alone that could fit Buster Prime (cough 3rd parties cough), i'd be up on that.

    But maybe it's just me - i'd rather have a gloriously painted Buster prime (2 pack ver) with no armor than a bland prime with armor.

    It's a shame the backpack is not compatible with all previous versions of the RotF leader Prime mould.

    He is nice, but not $200 nice. I might bite if I can snag him on a sale or if Hasbro release him at some point.

    love it.

    but as others said, i would hate to spend the money now, and takara come out with a premium or better looking version. even if a premium came out with a higher price tag it would be worth it.

    i just dont want to jump the gun, spend the money, new version comes out then stuck with this one or trying to sell it.

    thats collecting for ya!

    Never intended to get him until I was swayed by Syd's pics in the cool stuff thread. Got him few days back and I like everything about him except for the darn paint or rather lack of it. Took the brush to him and he looks much better.

    Thank you for the kind words on my sometimes broken review :)

    As for his price, it is indeed a bummer. I think there's a good chance that he'd go on a clearance sale in Japan (already retailing at 30% off or so), but the size of the figure (and the subsequent shipping cost) might negate any saving even if you can get one from Japan. You guys in the US are lucky that there are domestic online shops that will do the importing for you.

    I am waiting for the premium version as well, but I think he won't come with the Jetpack? Reminds me of how TakTom sold us TFA Wingblade Optimus Prime.

    Apparently the price I paid for him didn't cover the batteries, and at my son's insistence I put the batteries in at home - I can confirm that the sounds are the same, I heard "I AM OPTIMUS PRIME" about 50 times during transforming him!
    The transforming sound effect is there as well :)

    How I wish mine was like this!!

    Josh - no worries, a little thank you for the Ultimate OP pics you posted ;)  I'm gonna have so many Primes.
    (There are joints to attach the tire covers on the jetpack.)
