Here is a pictorial review of deluxe class Dark of the Moon Crankcase, or Dread(s).

Crankcase is police styled or undercover type Chevy SUV. He is a little smaller than most deluxe class vehicles. But from vehicle to robot he seems to get a little taller as his legs and arms extend quite a bit.

In vehicle mode he has 4 wheels which allow him to roll pretty effortlessly. He also has his pinchers/slicers that can come from underneath out for an attack mode. On top of the vehicle mode he has two mech-tech ports for any styled mech-tech weapon.

The pinchers are made of that flexible soft rubber.

Crankcase has a mech-tech gun that pushes out with 2 claws. Only down side is that they dont stay out, it is a back and fourth motion.

In bot mode is where Crankcase really shines. After transformation there really is not much left of vehicle mode and nothing hanging off other than the doors but is common among deluxe figures with car/truck modes.

His hands and dreads are made of soft plastic as well. You want to be careful of the dreads and where they connect to the head, too much moving of them on the post attached to head could lead to possible stressing and tearing in the plastic. I do wish based on the shape of the hands, that the mech tech gun had a peg or extension that would come down into the hands to make it look more like he is holding it but that may come to close the windshield.

Leg articulation is great. They connect to the waist with a ball joint. They swivel high on the thigh, they bend at the thigh and at the knee so when you bend the leg is gives for more of an arc versus a 90 degree movement.

    No wasit movement.

Arms are attached by a ball joint to shoulders which are attached with a pin to the body. They swivel high on the arm, bend at the elbow and wrists move in and out, no rotation.

Head can rotate 360 degrees. Also has some amazing light piping.

You can also choose how you want to display the pinchers as well, either flat on the back or raised for a menacing look!

Overall I love this guy, great figure with an ok vehicle mode but a really nice bot mode that definitely captures the movie design. Great pose-ability. I have a feeling dreads will be picked off fast and easy in the movie but these guys looks sweet.

DAMN IT I saw a face in his crotch... the robot crotch thread affected my mind.

Looks like a nice figure, that' some badass lightpiping and he's very menacing overall, plus he has a crotch face and... goddammit not again!

    Yes, Predator transformer. Bought.

I don't get the people who say that once they get it they're going to take off the dreads. Why? That's the best part. What is wrong with you people? :lol  Why would you neuter awesome?

I thought this looked a lot better before I saw how freaking tiny it is. Should have been a voyager. Guess that'll be yet another DotM toy I pass on.

Wow! That could be one of the best alternate mode I have seen for a long time. Everything looks fine untill those darn pinchers! They looked so dull they could have painted it at least... customizers would love to see it made as Trailbreaker! WTF!? Is he giving "the finger" on both hands?!!!!!! plastic in robot mode looks cheap and off. More paint Hasbro more paint.... can't you go the extra mile? small for a deluxe compared to BB and Baricade. With good paint job that could be promising. Nice pictures!

I think i might appreciate him a little more after i see his character in the movie. Otherwise very nifty figure that looks like he will be a badass character or characters. I like how they made some of the characters more alien. Makes me wonder do these guys bleed? Or do they spark?

THANK YOU for posting a pictorial review of this; it's about time these toys got reviewed.

As for Crankcase, I think he looks awesome. He's just got a really cool design going on, especially the headsculpt and the animal-like claw feet. Next to Shockwave, this is my favorite of the DotM toys I've seen so far.
