Since my last work on this guy, I've added the Reprolable movie set #24 and touched up the yellow parts that are supposed to be silver. I also went over his weapon just a little bit. I might still paint his dull gray areas silver, too, later on...
UPDATE: Chromed some car parts: Post #2

    Chromed

Used some Bare Metal Foil to chrome his rims, handles, Camaro SS signs, rear Chevy logo, and tailpipes. :thumbs2:

Looks good. A little paint and some decals can really make these figures that look cheap, look great. Usually that's about all I do to my own for my collection too.

nicely done. a nice yellow paint job would compliment that chrome.

Is that bare metal chrome foil 'ultra bright' or just 'chrome'? I would like to buy some.

Maybe sometime down the road, but I usually don't paint entire figures. So far I've only done that with DotM Sideswipe (because his gray was so dull) and leader RotF Megatron (because I made new arms and I wanted it all to blend together). Now that fakebusker83 made a new gun for DotM Megatron, I think I'll paint all of him when I order it...

I think I'll paint the face and other robot parts more later on. Usually I try to hit wrong colored details first, and my next one I want to paint is DotM Topspin.
I've never considered swapping the heads. I always thought they were nearly identical, but I might have to take a closer look sometime...

Thanks! Your work definitely makes those toys look much better!

I'm kind of afraid of making the yellow worse :)

It's just the regular chrome. I considered buying a sheet of the ultra bright but decided against it. I am curious what exactly it looks like...

    11-07-12 update

Did some more painting recently. As advised, I painted his face, but I think his whole head could still use a black wash... I also painted his Mech Tech weapon, a modded weapon from the original movie Bee (see http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/449038-dotm-bumblebee-blaster-tfm-bumblebee-blaster-knife.html), and the hidden vehicle mode weapons.
I started "dry" brushing his arms, hands, and a little in some other areas. I plan to do that more next time I work on him. I also plan to paint the inside of his weapon barrels blue like I did with my leader Starscream's jet boosters...

Be careful, they cracked on mine when I did this. I took a drill bit and widened them a little bit, so they still work :)

    LEDs

Using a battery and switch I ordered from the link in this thread:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/creative-general-discussion/774584-nano-chip-leds.html
I added an LED to the weapon I made earlier and to a little block that can go behind Bee's head. The battery stores inside of Bee when this is in use. It's fully removable for transformation or regular play, it's just an added accessory.
I'll probably do some more work on it in the future to get it to fit better and be more stable...

    tfcrafter's hood mod

I did tfcrafter's hood mod (http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/997402-dotm-deluxe-bumblebee-stealth-force-mode.html) to my DotM Bumblebee. A really welcomed side effect is that the hood parts that fold in now hold the back kibble tight. That was about the only thing I really didn't like about this toy is that his back kibble was a bit floppy...
I also made a new cannon for him since the LED one I did in the previous post was a bit cumbersome...
Finally, I did a little more painting. I gave his head a wash and touched up his gauntlets...

Nice work with the chrome parts. What did you use to do that?
