So a few years ago I bought the Dorvack Mugen Calibur in the urge to paint him in glorious Roadbuster colors!

Well.. I bought it messed with it and put in the closet for 2 years..
MY wife is out of town right now.. and I Was bored.. So... Out of the closet he came.. and did quite a bit of work in 4 hours.

I took everything apart to paint it as best as possible. It's NOT done.
Paint scratches off really easy still, but I haven't put the sealer on top to make the paint a bit more durable, and there's still a few spots I want to retouch with a brush as well as add some more paint detailing.

Actually what was kind of cool in the process of putting him back together I scratched some places up (touched up now), and it REALLY made Roadbuster look like he had seen a ton of battle.... I was almost tempted to keep it!

Anyway, it's not done, but I wanted to share my 4 hours of work!

    More pics to come!

Nice! I've been searching for this Calibur guy to make the same custom.
As far as I can see you are doing it perfectly bro. Keep it up!
BTW Does it have too many rub spots?

    It does.
Fortuantely most of the rub spots that in either mode you wouldn't notice them down the road.

The worst one will be where the foot connects to the front of the car, but you likely won't see it much when it's hanging from his back, and his foot is connected to it in car mode. The elbows are another big rub spot so I just left them silver, overall I don't think it distracts too badly.

I was thinking about doing this. But the legs looked funky.

Thanks man, this clarifies a lot.
Damn...Now I'm considering getting myself a G1 junker instead so that all I have to do is to give him some articulations and voila...Rub spots are really hard to deal with IMO.

Good luck bro, I'll be following your progress.

Not a ton of articulation at the waist is the big problem.. a ball joint would fix the problem..

Updated the first post with these bot mode pics..

The wet spot on the shoulder is an area I missed touching up, so the paint is fresh.

What tools do you have to do the painting?
I used my airbrush for most of the stuff, and then painted other stuff by hand.

The green around the brown armpads and the front grill is all hand painted..

Still got details left to paint!
