Anyone here play Doom? Like the original Doom from 1993. I have the game downloaded on my flash drive and I find it better than games put out today. I do find it better than games like Halo. If you haven't played it, PLAY IT! I will even support a download link to if you wish to play it! Just post back what you think.

    Who hasn't played Doom?

I have the Doom 3 special edition for Xbox that included all the earlier editions of the game.

    I played DooM to death.
went so far as to buying CDs with .WADs and level editors.
My Bro-in-Law Crashed his PC (a Gateway 2000 at 75mhz) just by using god mode on the last level and seeing how long it would take for the spawning baddies to overload it.

I miss that game soooo much.

I love Doom. I even muck around with the Doomsday Engine, to play it in a more modern way.

Please don't post a link. It will get the thread closed.

I'd say it's more fun. The level design is better too. So yeah, it's much better than Halo, if having fun and well-designed maps are your kind of things. If you're into graphics, deathmatches, and pseudo-realism, then maybe not so much.

The original Doom is the bomb diggity! Use to spent my weekends playing it with Rage Against the Machine's "Evil Empire" as it soundtrack. Fun times.

I loved Doom and downloaded it on Live. Still a fun time co-op. I also enjoyed Hexen a lot, which was in a lot of ways a fantasy version.

No so much the first, but still love and play Doom 2 occasionally.

Didn't rate 3 at all, pretty much none of what made the originals so fun.

    Agreed. totally.
i couldn't play Doom3 because it was too damn dark and having to babysit a flashlight killed what shoulda been a truly scary game.
it is one thing to not know where or what, but the frustration of knowing you have to choose a light (that in the future, coulda been built in or attached like modern combat lights are) over the gun that could save you is too much.

Doom, Doom II, you just run like hell and flick a switch and KILL!

Well, in a lot of reasons, Yes and No. Halo does have a better plot line and better graphics, but games like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and Wolfenstein 3D are what transformed (heh heh) in to what FPS games are today. And actually, Bungie was a pioneer in the old FPS market with a game called Marathon. And in Halo lore, it's said that Marathon and Halo, have some sort of link to each other. I don't see it though.
