No touch screen though. That could be good or bad dependign on how you felt about those controls on Metroid. But those games are perfect portable fare.

When a friend of mine first told me about Doom, years and years ago, I though it sounded horrible.

Then I saw the chainsaw.... the rest is a bloddy history.

Ditto, even to this day, anytime I play it and come across the Cyberdemon, the heart beats a bit quicker.

I've already got Doom and Doom 2 for GBA... so I'm completely uninterested in this. If they were to port Doom64 or something, I'd be interested.

C'mon... that game created ambience better than any of the games before it. Plus it had all kinds of things that Doom players didn't expect. It was like the bastard love child of Doom and Quake and Jenna Jameson. It was pure greatness.

Doom had up/down autoaim, so the stylus wouldn't be worth much if they did use it. They need to port Quake and Quake II.

Hmm, I've got Doom for the GBA, low res graphics and poor FPS make it a poor conversion. I mean, its a great technical achievement for a GBA, like V-rally 3, but compare V-rally 3 against Mario Cart DS, and GBA 3D doesn't hold a candle to the DS.

No, Doom should be good, no up/down aiming just makes it FASTER. I think I can do E1E1 on Ultra Violence of Doom under 15 seconds or something. Plus WiFi Doom!? Mmm.

To be fair though, what I really I want is a touchscreen DS version of CounterStrike... (ported from CS 1.6) that on WiFi would be awesome.

I played Ultimate Doom all the way through on the Doom 3 collectors disc for the Xbox. Having that game on the DS will be plenty fun for. It's my favorite iteration of the older Doom games.

I think you first find him in the Tower of Babel. It's been about a year since I played it last so I could be wrong.

Doom 2 was the best IMO, the level design was much better then the original and the extra stuff put more variety into into.

I don't really rate Ultimate since its just the first game with a 4th episode tacked on, which wasent really any better then the original 3.

Final Doom was hit and miss, TNT had some really good levels in it but Plutonia wasen't much more then a series of uber hard set pieces in pretty uninteresting environments.

I didn't like Doom64 at all. The engine had some good features, but it played far too much like a Doom flavored Quake mod rather then an actual Doom game.

You're wrong. It's good, clean... AND dirty fun. Chainsaws with TWO blades? That's badass. Super-mystery-laser-weapons? C'mon now. That thing is awesome. Teleporting imps? YEAH! And hordes of enemies, the likes of which few have seen before? BRING IT ON.

I'm so digging out my 64 after work.

Ultimate Doom is just the original Doom with an extra episode and few minor changes here and there. The Cyberdemon still doesn't show up until the last level of the second episode.

Ultimate Doom is basically the best version of Doom ever IMO, the 4th episode acts like a buffer between Doom and Doom 2.

The 4th episode was hard, harder than most Doom 2 levels. Although the first mission (E4M1) has lots of Barons of Hell in one bit, the second level E4M2 does have a cooped up Cyberdemon just before the end, but you don't have to kill it to pass. Instead you use it to kill all the Cacodemons that ARE in the final room, just lead them out and let the Rocket Dude work. I don't think I ever finished E4 at Ultra Violence... hmm.

Man, just thinking about it gives me evil flashbacks. I swear, I used to run Doom through my HIFI way back then, with the volume LOUD, and the Imps screetch still gives me the heebie jeebies.

Anyone ever play that Aliens mod? Where the first level has no enemies, and selecting the BFG would kill you (just because there was no BFG, so if you selected it the game knew you were cheating)

Hell, I still remember Doomtrek. Doom on the Next Generation Enterprise!

I played Aliens Doom donkeys years ago, but I can't remember much about it.

I lost my fear of Cyberdemons after the first few, but Arch Viles still make my skin crawl whenever I hear them coming. Fast, Strong, almost impossible to stun, never misses a target it can see and has a nasty side line in necromancy.
