Um, aren't they a few years late to make a special edition?

I already have this, it's teh fancy edition for the Xbox. And Doom 3 was the most creatively bankrup tech-demo-you-gots-to-buy bullshit I've ever seen. Now way I'm buying this.

Can't imagine there are many people clamoring for a re-release of a game that wasn't all that well received in it's own time, and hasn't aged too well. And if they massively reworked it, then why bother calling it Doom 3? For the Doom uber-fans out there...Uhm...Enjoy!

    EDIT:
If it's a precursor to a Doom 4 announcement at E3, then I guess (maybe) it makes some sense. But the inclusion of Doom 1 & 2 is at least nice.

This would make sense if it was 'remastered' using the same engine as what Rage uses.

I'm not usually one to complain about change as long as the outcome is interesting, but Doom 3 so fundamentally missed the point of what was good about OG Doom that I raged and never saw past he first hour or so.

I'd be all over a Doom 4 if it was fast and violent again thought.

So I have to buy ANOTHER Doom game?
I have all the Doom games on both PC and Xbox... I'm sorry but I want Doom 4.
Why would I buy this for new Levels if I can get millions of new levels from the modding community including Doom 3 with Doom 1 levels?
The only way I would buy this if it was a whole new graphics engine and they bring something new to the game that isn't just new levels.
Also, if any game needs a remake, I think Quake should of been first on the list, not Doom 3!

Xbox Doom 3 works on 360, at least mine does.

If it suddenly doesn't work all of a sudden, I'll know why...

I agree, I'd love to see a quake collection.

Doom 3 wasn't a great game, but it was fun. Me and a buddy played through the online co-op on the Xbox version and had a blast. We were constantly going "Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!. Especially in the dark areas of the game.

Still find it completely ******ed that the guns didn't come with built-in flashlights, and that they made you have to switch between your gun and your flashlight. Kinda worked for co-op I guess since me and my friend employed the strategy of one doing the shooting while the other worked the flashlight. Still highly annoying though since it was easy to lose track of each other in the darkness when the action got crazy.

But yeah, Doom 3 really didn't feel like a Doom game.

I didn't mind 3, it was ok, not awesome though. For what it was, I had fun. I like it better than Duke Nukem Forever though. But, to say that it didn't feel like a Doom game...I don't know about that. It had marines, iconic Doom guns, lots of the bad guys you normally run into, and there were plenty of moments I jumped. Doom 3 also had to compete with Half-Life 2, and lost. So, that in part was a reason for its downfall.

To wait, however many damn years to release a "special edition" when it doesn't look any different, is stupid as hell.
