    A style point.

Just like the CHUG is an horrible acronymn in my view, calling things "not-whatever" bothers me.

Here's why, in my view. Calling these 3rd party products not-whatever is

    1. unnecessary -- they have 3rd party names and one could just call FP Warbot FP Springer, for instance. A person can easily figure out what Hasbro property the figure the 3rd party item references. (my humble view -- if you don't know the names of the Constructicons you don't deserve a 3rd party Devastator! ;)  )
    2. perpetuates CHUG - like naming conventions.
    3. the word "not" is kind of ugly, except when used by Wayne and Garth or in an Anthrax song.

Sorry to get all style and grammar-rific here. I welcome comments.

Your title thread is telling us TO use the "Not-Name" of certain third party products, I hope you know. Secondly, don't tell me how to use my vernacular. In fact, I'm going to use CHUG a lot more often, and start using "Not-Name"s just to spite you. Happy Tenth of August, jerk.

Sorry you read it that way. Trying to have some fun and I didn't intend to have fun at anyone's expense. The extra not in the title is a deliberate mistake.

Internets makes everything way too serious. Apologies.

    I agree with you 100%.

I guess this site has to be seen through rose-colored glasses where everyone agrees on everything all the time and is always A-OK, filled with rainbows, puppydogs, and Christina Hendricks in a thong.

What some of the childish, immature posters don't understand on here is that this is a community and therefore things you do and say affect other people.

Why would someone want to be an immature, spiteful jagbag and willfully say something that affects others negatively is beyond me.

Some of the posters in this thread need to grow the fuck up.

I prefer their "Not-Names" because it helps me know who they are supposed to look like without having to dig up an image. Lots of web hosting sites at work are blocked.

Honestly, I'm getting a lot more tired of people whining about it than the monikers themselves.

You have so many negatives in your title I dunno if they cancel out or end up a negative lol.

As for the not name...I think this is the first time in a short while I've heard a not name. I personally have been seeing a trend of naming the 3rd party stuff by their actual 3rd party name. I can not tell you the last time I heard Not- Devi, it's all Hwercules and Giant now.

So the only reason you are still hearing NOT-so and so is because threads liek this keep popping out.

Like all bad habits, ignore it and it will go away.

    1. It's a shorthand for quickly identifying who's who. There are a lot of just bizarre names these third party companies come up with (Faith Leader?? Horror Monarch?? :lol ), and it's difficult to keep track of them all. With Hasbro toys, the names of all the toys vis a vis the characters are uniform, and differences are identified by the line and size class, and occasionally silly adjectives.

    2. I'll agree you lose some information by using the "not" shorthand, since you can't exactly go to BBTS to search for "not-Devastator". But, CHUG is even worse, because you can't even tell which figure someone might be referring to: CHUG Bumblebee -- is that Classics, Henkei, that evolution one, RtS or United? As long as the 3rd party companies don't make multiple iterations of the same character, we don't have this problem.

    3. That's subjective. I think the "not" is humorous in a tongue-in-cheek way. It's like, we all know what the toy is, but we won't come out and say it even though it's blindingly obvious. I think it's a clever way of dodging the messy IP business.
