The first was an ok movie, but not one I wouldve thought for Jake Gyllenhal to have broken out in. I wasnt impressed much by it.
With Mila Kunis (Meg/Jackie) as the killer? That's just wrong. Next...'Less than Zero 2: Julian's Revenge'...starring Corey Feldman!
Yeah, it's an utter abortion of a movie, and it also completely destroys the credibility of the first film (which was good, actually quite better than the book).
American Psycho 2 is also directed by Morgan Freeman. Here's the trailer. Although it appears to be as awful as a fan-made trailer, I assure you that Morgan Freeman REALLY made this movie. I wonder if Donnie Darko 2 will be as reviled as American Psycho 2. Spoiler:Not THAT Morgan Freeman
Gotta disagree with you on that one. Though the film was amazing, and I am a huge fan of it...I personally enjoyed the book more than the film, and think it did a better job conveying itself than the movie did. Both are absolutely wonderful works, but again I gotta give the nod to the book in this case. Now as for a sequel to Donnie Darko...yeah, pretty much what everyone else has said. I enjoyed the movie, and a sequel is just so beyond unnecessary its ridiculous.
American Psycho 2 broke the rules of its own predecessor when BATEMAN DIED IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF THE FILM. >.< And yeah, WTF?? More hope lost when the original director is unattached...ah well.
Sigh. Coming soon -- Shawshank Redemption 2: Redeem Harder and Fight Club 2: Tyler Knows You Told Someone about Fight Club Last Summer.
I don't see a point either. Then again, I couldn't fathom the point of the first one either. Seriously, I was (kinda/sorta) following it right up till then end...then...what?
I watched s. Darko yesterday, and I wish I could tell everyone here it was good, but the movie really was a steaming pile of nothing special. It was a boring story that threw in elements of the first film and tried to pass it off as a sequel. Samantha Darko, kinda sorta stuck in a time/space paradox just like her brother. Personally, I blame the parents.
Traditional family values distort space/time, you read it here first. I saw it. I agree with everything you've said - especially the part about the "nothing special". There isn't enough going on to hate, the plot sort of meanders around, bumps into a couple of visual setpieces the director dreamed up and then just wanders off again. It didn't even have the courage to be bad.
