So, has anyone bought this yet? Just finished world 1.

The game has tight platforming, great music and nice homages and references to the old games.
Only flaws are that (apparently) Rambi is the only animal buddy and the disappearance of the Kermlings. Something else that might bother a few people that there are no water levels, though I welcome that with open arms.

Everyone with a Wii should buy this, it's barrels of fun.

This should actually be arriving from Gamefly today. Can't believe I'm getting a first run title that fast. Even though I've had NBA Jam for PS3 at my number 1 spot since before it was even officially announced for the system.

I am most certainly going to pick this game up soon. Got the first DKC shortly after it was released in 1994. I've been waiting for a return to the series forever.

Way to try and hide your love for the Kongs.

I need to rent(and later) buy this game. I love what Nintendo has done this year.

might be hard to believe, but the only donkey kong games i've ever played are Konga 1 & 2, and the very original arcade game.

that said, they always looked like the classic platformers i enjoy, so i dunno why i never got into them... lack of gamecube i guess.

Think of Kong like Blanka on an adventure.

I'll be getting this game for the holidays, but the wait is killing me. I used to play the original DKC all the time at a friends house and played 2&3 alot when I finally got my own SNES.

I was really looking forward to this game, but I had a chance to play it at Gamescom a while back and I'm not too sure anymore.

It had really solid gameplay, but I also felt it was kind of suffering from things Nintendo seems to be really good at lately: unneccesary Wii controls and the inclusion of bland looking enemies. These two things instantly took me out of the DKC mood.

Think I'll still pick it up eventually because it looks like Retro made a really killer game, but I was secretly hoping it would go even beyond that and feel like an actual sequel to the old DK Country/Land games, and I feel it's missing that extra sauce.

i might have to do that, or ahem, load up my cough emulators cough.

now that would be a platformer i'd play. but i kinda imagine it to be like sonic in green.

Sonic wishes he could curl up and send a shocking blast to his enemies. Considering that Sonic's enemies consist of 90% robots, Blanka would fare better than Sonic in Sonic's world.

I agree that the motion controls were unneeded, but new enemies are pretty fun and interesting. It also makes sense for Retro to introduce new ones, the Kremlings were Rare's thing and I think they wanted to make the game their own, rather then try to copy everything Rare did.

I remember the graphics on the SNES blowing me away. I knew it wasn't real-time, but it still looked awesome.

Yes, but then again who wouldn't? Can't wait to play this game, me and my brother had a blast with the first two DKCies.

I'm a little way through the second world and the game is really top notch. In fact, one of last year's best games was New Super Mario Bros Wii, and this kinda feels like this years followup. It's straight up fun. Shaking the controller for different actions isn't so bad. In fact, I like that rolling and running is finally not mapped to one button like it was in the SNES versions, which lead to me rolling to my death when I just wanted to have the run button held down to make a longer jump.

I like innovation, but that doesn't mean there isn't room in the gaming landscape for updates to classic series like this, and I'm really glad New Super Mario sold well enough to tell Nintendo that. I hope DKCR sells well to.

Just completed world 4. They weren't kidding about the difficulty, though the ease of gathering lives and the extra hearts make it easier then the old games.

I just beat world 4 to. Boy, that world alone brought my score for this game a couple notches down. I'm ok with treacherous gimmick levels designed for trial and error occasionally, but having a whole world of it including a boss? Seriously seemed like a mistake in game design and pacing. One good thing though is that if my platforming skills had gotten soft over the years, they have now been sharpened to the point of splitting hairs.

Okay now I'm definitely getting this game. Kinda refreshing to see a challenging Wii game for a change.
