Huge Improvement! That would almost get me to start buying the books again. The next step would be to recon AHM as if it didn't happen.

Much better, but still not a fan of the cookie-cutter G1-faces. But this could just be Milne's style.

The problem with Don's "movie" faces is they're not "movie" faces, just over-complicated versions of G1 faces with little to zero uniqueness between characters. They just end up busy and boring because you can't see any emotion in them. At least with the G1 faces you can get some emotion in 2D comics.

Also, to me, they fit better with the "not-quite-movie-style" bodies.

His style would've been cool in a spotlight or something but not for the on-going. I here various reasons why they let him go in that direction, one being IDW's giving artist freedom, two being Don wanting to do something new/make them look "less cartoony" and lastly Hasbro was behind is wanting to cash in on the movie hype.

I can tell Don was having issues drawing the movie style before but since his "break" has been developing his art on the movie style and now it seems he doesn't want to let it go, now that he has it down.

I feel the movie style doesn't work well on paper, that goes for bots and environment. I really like Don's take on the movie comics but Alex was the only one able to give these funny looking faces emotion.

But when I read these books I want to feel that 80's nostalgia, yeah I know it's new but it feels classic at the same time like with E.J. Su. With Don's art I get this OMG look at me I'M NEW!! vibe, nothing classic about them just all shiny new stuff and it's hard to get into the stories when everything feels so different. And it doesn't help when IDW is coming at you like..."classic characters new adventures"!

I just love E.J.'s art, his work in the -tion series was the whole reason I started reading TF comics in the first place.

I have literally nothing bad to say about this at all.

This is, to me, ideal. Milne brings the skills.

Bolded the one real issue I have with Don's new take. The faces don't look different IMO.

This is probably my favorite piece of art Alex Milne has ever done.

Don is probably my favorite TF artist, and I actually love his new designs from the neck down. I only really dislike the movie-style faces for characters who are supposed to have humanoid faces, like Hot Rod and Bumblebee. I think the style actually looks pretty darn cool on those without faces, like Optimus Prime and Wheeljack. I think it'd be pretty awesome to see Don's movie-style versions of Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, etc.

I'm not going to say anything mean about Don. I still enjoy his art, and I still feel lucky that we have a guy as talented as him on the TF series. Too bad about the darn faces, but then again, nobody's perfect.

the movie-like faces is the reason I haven't read anything other than the free previews of the ongoing series. I just can't connect to the characters when they all look the same, emotionless.
Milne's versions look bloody perfect. there's nothing to pick on!
