"IT DOESN'T WORK" comics. LOL. That kind of sums up my feelings on some of the Transformers comics out there. :p

Don Murphy's kind of an ass here. I like IDW and their comics. What got him so bent out of shape?

From what I could gather, the story is this:

    a) A horror writer named Eric Red ran amok and killed a few people several years ago. He got a "temporary insanity" get-out-of-jail-free card.
    Hollywood, Interrupted: Seeing Red
IDW apparently later published comics written by him.

    b) Some writer named Steve Niles was being mean to Don, taking his girlfriend or somesuch. He's currently working for IDW.

Because of those two incidents, Don is considering IDW "guilty by association" and has been ranting about them ever since it had become public that they had acquired the Transformers license.

It's very easy to post hateful things. It's simply embarrassing when he does this without a shred of evidence. People say negative things about IDW's comics, myself among them. But at least when I do it, I provide examples and why I didn't like it. (And I totally swear anything negative I say about IDW is out of love, because I honestly do love those books.)

Murphy here seems to displaying the "I HATE IT I HATE IT" behavior of a 7-year-old. It'd be another thing if he said, "I hate IDW's comics because the characters all sound the same..." etc, but he just seems content to start a flame thread.

Might this anger be over the "spoilers" IDW's interviews have given away? It seems that Don Murphy deals with snags with unbridled, f-bomb riddled anger. I have a theory about the leaked script, which caused him to ban members for failing to alert him in time: maybe the script was indeed real, and Spielberg and/or Michael Bay yelled at Don Murphy with God's wrath and gave him some cover story about a fake script. Murphy then probably relieved his stress by taking it out on someone else. He seems to be doing the same here, except this time Chris Ryall has somehow displeased Murphy.

Anywhoo, while I have begun lately to question IDW's comics' Transformer series, I have always been a supporter. Similarly, while I have begun to doubt Ryall's editorial decisions, he's always seemed to be an honest and nice person who takes the time to answer fans on his message board, and he doesn't deserve Murphy's venom.

The problem I have with IDW is all their different series titles and 1 shot crap. Stop doing these 6 shot comics series then continue the series but THEN you start of at issue 1 again!!! DW did the same shit. Should be IDW series Transformers issue 50 or whatever now BUT NO they got to mix it up. It's confusing for someone who doesn't live and breathe comics. I dunno wtf storyline I'm reading half the time.

Is is too hard to have a continuous numbering system?

I'm no defender of Don Murphy by any stretch and generally think the guy is a giant douche nozzle, but maybe he just thinks IDW puts out shitty low quality comics and isn't scared to say so publicly. If that's the case, he definitely wouldn't be alone since a lot of people think IDW's lack of quality artwork has single-handedly killed TF's clout within that particular medium.

Or maybe he's just be a dick as per usual by trying to be 'big man on campus' again via his own forums. Who knows. I'm personally waiting for the Bay vs. Murphy verbal war that HAS to happen one of these days since it seems inevitable :)

    1. Don Murphy is typically an ass to some degree.
    2. What's got him bent out of shape in regard to IDW is a long story. Has something to do with them employing Steve Niles, though I don't remember the specifics. That should be enough to start some research with though.

I can't get over how slavish the posters on that board are.

"Don, should we boycott the TFW books?" Really, dude? Are you so incapable of independent thought that you'll take guidance from a fucking movie producer?

Or how someone rushes to "invite" Ryall to the thread. Yassuh, Massah Don, I's a gonna e-jump when you post for me to!
