Cheadle is Replacing Howard in Iron Man 2 - Superhero Hype!
I like Don Cheadle and he'd do a fine job with the role. I hate it when they re-cast a character though, just like they did with Rachael in the Dark Knight, I didn't like Maggie Gylenhall AT ALL.
I like Don Cheadle, but I think Howard is a better Rhodey. I'm hoping this is actually false and that Howard isn't that stubborn about being paid more and such. On a movie/franchise like this, you take what they offer you and say thank you. Thank you very much for letting me be apart of this.
Looks like he wont get his "next time".
I like both but would go with Howard as he was already there in the first one.
But ... I want Warmachine ...
I kinda thought Howard sounded a bit sissy in the role. I always had the impression Rhodes was more rough-voiced, and Howard made him sound like a nancy in the opening scene with him at the award ceremony. I hate when roles get recast, but I'll file this under "Watch with Cautious Optimism".
Interesting how they got a higher caliber actor in light of "Financial differences."
My thoughts exactly.
I rather thought Gwyneth would have been the one replaced...ah well an actor is an actor.
Man, I hate it when they do this. I know the charaxcter is the same, but they don't look anything alike and they don't sound the same.
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. As dumb as the new Punisher movie.
WTF? "Financial differences" but willing to pay for a more expensive actor?
I much prefer consistency. Didn't like that Rachel's actor changed for the TDK as well.
i thought they had them all signed to deals already, isn't that standard to make them do a 3 picture deal?
I'd totally agree with this. You say thanks for the cheque, see you at the next sequel.
It is not THAT dumb.
Yes. Yes it is.
It's the stupidest thing ever since Elektra. You do not replace an actor during a trilogy, especially when the actor was so good. Don Cheadle may be a good actor, but he's just not as cool as Terrence Howard. AND we already established him as Warmachine. They can't just take that away! I might boycott the movie if this is officially confirmed. Anyone with me?
For the record, I thought Gwyneth Paltrow was hawt as Pepper Potts.
Boycott is a little extreme, I'll probably end up going to watch anyway.
But yes defiinitely Terrence. Big, big movie, very successful and family friendly. With that one line 'Next time, baby', everyone now looks forward to seeing Terrence in that suit. Ironman 2 will probably be a success anyway, but people will definitely smile more seeing Terrence again as he's a familiar face.
And Gwyneth's so hot I saved some pictures of her as Pepper ream:
Actually, it almost makes sense.
Think about it this way.
You were willing to pay one actor $xxx, now he's demanding $yyy.
You know that you can get a bigger name actor to do it and accept $yyy.
I mean think about it. If you go up to your boss at work tomorrow, and demand a 30% raise just because your company has been doing great for the past year, what stops your employer from just finding someone more qualified that they're willing to pay the extra 30% more and telling you to hit the road?(well, at least in california anyway since it's an at-will employment state)
Plus, if there was one gripe I had about the Ironman movie, it was wondering wtf Rhodes seemed like a sissy.
And good luck trying to boycott ironman 2. The studio probably doesn't care about losing a few super picky comicbook nerds that actually got any war machine reference from the first movie.
I agree to some extent, however I disagree with your last paragraph. I seriously doubt anyone's gonna boycott the movie, as I said myself I won't. However I think you underestimated the number of people who got the Warmachine reference. Sure it won't stop us from watching, but still it would leave a expression during/after the movie.
I also do not find anything wrong with Terrence's acting. I don't think Tony's best friend, who will become Warmachine in the future, has to have, coincidentally, the rough and tough voice and look.
This sucks if it's true. Howard > Cheadle
