You think that's bad? A dog was found entombed in a block of ice and dumped on some guy's lawn recently.

    FULL STORY HERE

Although police are at a loss, it's easy to see how this happened. The dog was chasing a cat when they ran out onto a frozen pond. The clever cat used its claw to cut a hole in the ice around the dog and it promptly fell it. When the dog's owner rescued it with his fishing pole, it came out like this.

Hell, I am allergic to cats, and I am not a fan of our cat, but I always make sure it is in at night, and when no one is home to let her in when she wants to, during the winter months and with cold weather. Summer not so much since it does hunt in the woods behind us

That's just disgusting. They're supposed to be man's best friend, and people such treat them as such.

A neighbor of mine rescued a dog a couple of winters ago..he was frozen to the ground. She managed to get him loose and took him to the vet where they were able to save him. Now she has a beautiful beagle and he's a wonderful loving dog, she's German, so she named him Fritzi. :thumb

    Shame on that lady :mad

I was upset when it said the dog that frozed to death was a Shih-Tzu. That is my favorite dog. I used to have one.

I'd never leave my dog out overnight, even in the warmer weathers of Summertime. Don't even leave her out on her own in the day either. She gets her walks for exercise and then follows me around the house when I'm home. She's part of the family and is treated as such.

Sigh. Hate when someone does something dumb like this cuz that's when all the heroes come out to save the world.
    Talking like saints.

Yeah, it sure is sad a dog froze to death because of someone's callousness. What's that? People are freezing to death on the streets every day? Meh.

Hearing stories like this just make me so sick to my stomach. I love dogs, I hate people who abuse them, or treat them horrible. The other day my dad told me about a time when he was a teen, and this family just left the dog tied up on a chain outside, all year round. They left it there so long, as the dog grew, the chain started getting imbedded in its skin. All they did was walk out to feed the dog, and left it out there. To answer what happened to the dog, my dad unhooked the chain on the doghouse, took the dog to the vet to get the chain removed, and gave the vet bill to the owners.

Stuff like this makes me seriously sad to hear, I can't even watch those animal cruelty commercials on tv without tearing up. These animals do nothing but love and care you, and you treat them like shit?!

Sorry, I have very strong opinions when it comes to these things.

I can't watch shows like "Animal Cops" on Animal Planet. I have an aunt who watches that show. I walk out of the room anytime if she is watching it.

Please remove that picture. It's awful. Anyone who kills an animal through gross negligence should be charged with murder. Plain AND simple.

The 'Animal Cops' shows do a very good job of bringing this subject into the light and giving the heroes who deal with this stuff EVERY DAY their due. They especially show the variety of ignorance that leads to suffering which is a good thing to learn about, along with things like what an animal looks like who is sick or starving. Knowledge you can use to judge situations you will probably come across later (like when someone claims their dog or horse 'is just skinny', or that it's 'normal' for a cat to have runny eyes) where you can then take appropriate action.

Turning a blind eye just because the imagery makes you ill or angry doesn't help the animals. Do something about it if you feel so strongly. Go down to your local shelter or rescue and volunteer, make things better for animals who have known suffering.
